🎉🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AN ABSOLUTE LEGEND! 🎂🎉

Today we’re celebrating a very special birthday here at Jerry’s Grill & Bar — our very own Chef Doug Oehmke!

When we say Doug is a legend, we mean it! For 46 YEARS, Doug has been a huge part of what makes Jerry’s, well… Jerry’s!

Think about that for a second. If you’ve enjoyed an amazing meal at Jerry’s anytime over the last 46 years, there’s a pretty darn good chance Doug had a hand in making it happen!

Thousands upon thousands of steaks, countless dinners, and generations of families coming through our doors. Through all those years, Doug has been a constant in our kitchen, helping build the reputation for great food that we’re so proud of today.

You just don’t find that kind of dedication, loyalty, and talent very often anymore. Doug isn’t just an employee. He’s family, he’s part of our history, and he’s a huge part of the reason Jerry’s is still going strong after all these years.

Doug, we can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done and continue to do. We’re incredibly lucky to have you, and we hope you know how much you’re appreciated!

🍂 WELL… MOTHER NATURE GOT THE MEMO! 🍂

Fall officially arrived, and apparently Mother Nature had it marked on her calendar. 😂 After all that summer heat, the first days of fall actually feel like fall!

And you know what cooler weather means at Jerry’s…

☀️ Let’s bid a not-so-fond farewell to these HOT summer temperatures and welcome the official start of fall!

Apparently, Mother Nature didn’t get the memo yet. 😂 But no matter what the thermometer says, Tammy says it’s pumpkin season—so her Pumpkin Cheesecake is back, joining all your other favorite homemade flavors! 🎃🍰

Chef Doug will also be doing what he does best: cutting steaks by hand, frying up our famous chicken, and serving those pasta dishes that just keep getting more and more popular. If fall refuses to show up outside, we’ll just serve it by the slice inside!

Come enjoy one last week of summer—and maybe give it a firm handshake, a polite goodbye, and directions out of town. 👋🥵

It is with very heavy hearts that we say goodbye to a wonderful friend of Jerry’s, Leona Stover.

For many years, Leona was a familiar face around here on Friday nights, coming in to enjoy dinner with her friend Doris. She wasn’t just a customer to us—she was a friend and a special part of the Jerry’s family.

Leona and I also happened to share a birthday, March 4th, and we always called each other “birthday buddies.” ❤️ That’s something I’ll always remember and smile about.

We are all very sad to hear of Leona’s passing, but we also feel incredibly fortunate to have known her and to have so many wonderful memories of her time spent with us.

103 years is an incredible life, and we’re honored that a little piece of that life was spent around the tables at Jerry’s.

Rest easy, Birthday Buddy. You will be missed more than you know. ❤️

What an amazing Balloon Fest week! 🎈

It was honestly one of the busiest Balloon Fest weeks we’ve ever had at Jerry’s, and we can’t thank everyone enough for coming out and supporting us.

We met so many first-time customers from the Chicago area, Indiana, Kentucky, and plenty of other places along the way. What meant the most was hearing how many of them found Jerry’s because someone local recommended us.

That is the best advertising we could ever ask for. Thank you to our community for continuing to support us, sending new people our way, and helping make a little family-owned restaurant in Wamac a place visitors want to find.

And to everyone who tried Jerry’s for the first time—we hope you enjoyed it, and we hope to see you again! 🎈

There’s a lot going on at Fairview Park tonight and Saturday, so while you’re out enjoying the balloons, music and all the festivities, come see us at Jerry’s in between the fun!

We’re pretty excited for Balloon Fest weekend…although apparently AI thinks I’ve aged 10 years and gained about 25 pounds 😂 Tammy and Misty look good, and Doug looks pretty OK—so I guess that’s really all that matters.

With Balloon Fest moving to Fairview Park, it’s technically closer to Jerry’s than it’s ever been! So while you’re out enjoying the festivities, stop in and see us for a hand-cut steak, seafood, fried chicken, a frozen drink—or, of course, a piece of Tammy’s cheesecake.
