Ever wonder why your cold brew comes out faster than your latte? 👀

It’s not that we’re moving slower. Your drinks are actually made very differently.

Our cold brew is brewed in-house ahead of time using a slow, cold-water brewing process. It takes hours to make, but once it’s brewed, it’s chilled and ready to pour when you order it.

A latte, on the other hand, is made to order. We grind the beans, pull a fresh shot of espresso, add your flavor, (maybe) steam your milk, and build your drink from there.

So while your cold brew is essentially pour + ice + lid.

Your latte is grind + pull + flavor + milk + pour + ice + lid. ☕️

Both are made with good coffee. Both are delicious. They just have very different processes- and that’s why one can make it to your hands a whole lot faster.

One little change: pickup will be at the camper window this week because we will be OPEN at Randys Flooring in CR! Which means you can pick up your order and grab a fresh drink while you’re there. A win-win, obviously 😌

Also, apple crisp season is getting dangerously close to the end, so don’t wait too long to get your fall favs 🍎

The littlest member of the Bitter Sweet crew is TWO today! 🥹

We love that anytime he sees our logo, he yells “ICE CEAM!” 🍦 And every time he gets in the camper, his first requests are always for ice cream and lemonade. 😌 He may be one of our tiniest customers, but he’s definitely one of our most loyal. 🤎

Did you know? 👀

When we started Bitter Sweet, mobile espresso wasn’t really a thing here. We were the first in Cedar Rapids (+ Linn County + tbh most of Iowa!) to take a full espresso setup on the road and bring fresh lattes directly to markets, events and celebrations.

We had NO idea what we were doing or how well it would work. 😂 We just knew we loved a good latte, we loved making events unique, and we thought it would be cool if people could have a coffee shop experience at their house, their wedding or even their company.

Now, there are more mobile coffee businesses in the city than I can even keep track of, and I actually love seeing it. It means we were onto something. 🤍

Four years later, we’re still loading up the camper, firing up the espresso machine and figuring out where Bitter Sweet can go next- but we’re always open to your suggestions. 😉
