This was truly a beautiful occurrence. To be able to witness people of different backgrounds and cultures gather for a traditional Ethiopian coffee experience was something special. During this event, hosted by Palette Studios, there was a moment when she handed out sheets of paper and politely asked us to write what words come to mind when thinking of our culture. Although I did not participate, by my own choice, I realized that every word I imagined was transpiring around me: hospitality, community, harmony, connection, and more.
As people laughed around their sinis, and shared popcorn and traditional homemade bread, I remembered this is what my restaurant is about. Not just the food, but the community and togetherness the culture can bring. Whether it’s a cup of coffee or a shared injera plate.
Thank you so much again to everyone who allowed Injera & Beyond to be a part of something so special. It meant a lot to us. ❤️
