He has opened a new shop in Cedar Falls. Alex's, a truly unique shop, has finally opened in Cedar Falls. Alex Martinov, award winning chef, and his food are bringing big world flavor to small town Iowa. The menu is a
tasty array of dishes from all over the world. From homemade tortilla chips and salsa to chicken parmesan wraps Alex's is sure to have something for everyone in the family or dormitories. Chef Alex began his culinary career in 1996 in Detroit, Michigan. In Detroit Alex attained his Culinary Arts degree from Schoolcraft College. From there, he got a job cooking for the Detroit Pistons. In 1998 Alex moved to Iowa, and shortly after relocated to Paris, France. While in Paris, Alex attended the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Academy where he double-majored in Cuisine and Pastry. Since then, he has cooked all around the world and for many notable individuals including Mohammad Ali, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Anna Kournikova, Barbra Bush, and the Rolling Stones. Alex has had his own cooking show, taught many cooking classes, and has been televised weekly on a local NBC network. Alex Martinov, and his shop, are undoubtedly a treasure in the Cedar Valley. Fresh ingredients and creativity set Alex's apart from other shops. Alex and his passionate staff bring classic dishes to life in refreshing new ways. Some menu items include buffalo chicken quesadillas, oriental wings, Greek salads, Thai wraps, and various hot and cold sandwiches. Conveniently located at 2020 College Street, across from Kwik Star, Alex's is the perfect place for college students and locals alike. Alex’s is opened on Sunday through Tuesday from 10am to Midnight and Wednesday through Saturday from 10am to 3am. Alex will be cooking his pasta bar every weekend from 4pm to close. Alex will also be cooking his omelet bar on Sunday mornings from 10am to 2 pm.
