My wife andrea and I opened La Cocina in December of 1996. We have three great children that have grown up watching their Mom & Dad strive for excellence in work and home life. Over the past 20 years we have had the privilege to be part of a great community and people's lives. We have watched people date, get married, have children, grandchildren....the list goes on and on. I think that is where we got our catch phrase, "Where friends & family eat". We make everything in house, we strive to make ALL feel welcome and APPRECIATED. We truly appreciate you and your choice to come and eat with us.

Andrea remembers the early days in tacos made and enchiladas rolled, side by side with Jim.

When their kids came along, they found a new rhythm. Jim spent his days at La Cocina. Andrea raised their family. And at night, the restaurant came home with him: the stories, the worries, the ideas they weren’t quite ready to say out loud. They’d sit together and talk it all through.

So much of building a place with your partner happens after the doors close. On the couch, in bed, having morning coffee.

When we asked Jim about building La Cocina together, he said, “If it were just me, we would’ve closed.”

Almost 30 years later, they’re still building it. ❤️
