Paul Leroy Abowd, beloved patriarch and culinary pioneer, passed away peacefully at home on March 11th, 2024, surrounded by family and loved ones.

One of the little perks of small town journalism is the delicious food we got to eat after photographing the dishes of the weekly food columnists. One of the biggest perks is the many amazing people we get to know over the years.
Congrats to Chef Charlie Abowd – one of those amazing people – as his long-awaited cookbook "Recipes and Rambles" was unveiled during a celebration today for the photo of the day.

A year ago today, firefighters were called to the historic Adele's restaurant at 5:19 a.m., during a freezing morning before the sun had even crested the hills. It wasn't a large blaze, most of it had actually been confined to the laundry room in the back of the building.
