Any professional or amateur golfer with a Handicap Index of 0.4 or better can throw their name in for the U.S. Open. This year, 10,201 entries were accepted, and only 156 players made the cut.

The USGA sets the course up to make sure nobody gets comfortable, with narrow fairways, thick rough, and greens so fast that a confident stroke can roll 10 feet past the hole. The world's best players spend four days just trying to survive it, and that’s exactly what makes it one of the most exciting weeks in sports.🏆
