This poor girl has lost her sparkle…temporarily. Goodness Gracious Kitchen & Cupboard is, and always will be, one of the greatest privileges of my life.

Today, everything is in limbo.

We don’t know exactly what the future holds. My hope is that sooner than later, we’ll welcome you back through the doors. Until then, we’re taking things one day at a time.

While we navigate this unexpected chapter, I’ve created a space where I can continue doing what has always meant the most to me—sharing stories, gathering people, finding humor in the hard things, preserving traditions, and staying connected with this incredible community.

If you’ve ever shared a meal with us, celebrated around one of our tables, worked beside us, or simply cheered us on from afar, I’d love for you to join me.

Two months later…

I kept waiting for the right words to capture this experience. The truth is, I’m not sure there are any. What I do have is a new awareness of what people endure after a tragedy like a fire.

After so many trips back to the restaurant, it still doesn’t get easier. Every time I walk through the doors, I’m stunned all over again.

Now, the restoration will finally begin. It’s impossible to save what I created, so I’m trusting the professionals to do what needs to be done—to repair the damage and make the space whole again.

It will be without my beautiful wallpaper. Without the collectible dishes stored in the basement. Without the framed artwork. Without the picnic baskets that hung from the ceiling.

But the heart of the building remains.

I’m deeply thankful this historic building is still standing. I’m grateful to my neighbors who quickly alerted the Carmel Fire Department, and to CFD and the surrounding fire departments for their incredible skill, courage, and dedication.

As I stood outside my building in shock, the first phone call I received was from Mayor Finkam. I honestly don’t remember much of what was said, but I’ll never forget how it made me feel. It reminded me that my business mattered, and that I wasn’t facing this alone.

I’ve been surrounded by an incredible circle of friends and family. This experience has sharpened my survival skills and strengthened my resilience in ways I never expected.

On the other side of this tragedy, there is still so much to be grateful for.

I’ll continue embracing my entrepreneurial spirit—dreaming, creating, and envisioning what comes next. The rebirth is already beginning.

For now, I’m choosing to trust the process, go with the flow, and believe that something beautiful will rise from these ashes. 🎀 as always…

UPDATE: It’s been one week.
A very long and painful week. We were on the eve of our busiest weekend. We finally had an all star team. We were planning fantastic summer events. Abruptly we lost our identity and daily mission with an electrical fire in the basement. So we’ve grieved all week. Now we get back up and deal.
Good news: no structural damage just a lot of smoke. We will need a deep clean, paint, and ceiling tiles. Restoration underway tomorrow. Most family keepsakes are safe. Everything else is just stuff.
The obstacles: We have no official timeline. My mom’s cookbook was lost. We are short about 100 of our beloved coffee cups. It is one of the most traumatic events I have experienced.

I have finally made it back to my faith and trust in the universe. The trust that everything works out just as it should. It doesn’t mean that perspective is free from loss or heartache. Thank you everyone for the endless messages, cards, flowers, and support. It was beyond my mental load to respond to many. Onward and upward. Love from all of us at GGKC Sty tuned and we will update as we can.

Some of you may know, we had a fire in our building. Our morning feels like a nightmare. We’re all displaced from our morning routine. Turn on the lights, put the coffee and the yacht rock on and welcome our people.
Our building is intact. The dining room with tables still set. Damage contained to basement. Thanks to the neighbors and the fire department it could have been much worse. We are all devastated. Defeated. We do not know what to expect. What we are facing. What is the timeline. So many unknowns. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to all of us. For now, one foot in front of the other and counting our blessings. It’s a lot to process. We will keep you updated. 🎀
