Hello neighbors,

The Upper Captiva Civic Association (UCCA) would like to share information regarding a proposed rezoning of 341 Pieces of Eight on North Captiva. We have been informed via a zoning sign located at 341 Pieces of Eight, North Captiva, FL.

The sign is announcing an “Informational Public Meeting” to occur on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 2:30 PM at Mainstay and Barnacles Bar (4401 Point House Trail).

The applicant, Team Davenport Barging, LLC, is seeking to rezone the property to a Commercial Planned Development (CPD). The request outlines two primary uses: freight/cargo barging operations and “Essential Services Group II,” which, under Lee County code, may include uses such as a solid-waste transfer station.

Based on available information, UCCA understands that the notice for this meeting may not have met the requirements outlined in the Lee County Land Development Code § 33-1702. Specifically, concerns have been raised regarding the timing, method of notification, and whether all procedural steps tied to the rezoning application have been fully completed prior to the meeting announcement.

At this time, UCCA is not taking a position for or against the proposed rezoning. Our intent is to ensure residents are aware of the meeting in hopes all who are able to attend will do so.
