ee farm is ideally located at 1,100 feet elevation within the Kona Coffee Belt. This geographical region is sheltered between the slopes of the Hualalai and Mauna Loa volcanoes, and is the only place where the world famous Hawaiian Kona coffee is cultivated. Monk's Delight's main crop is 100% Kona Coffee, and the coffee trees thrive on the rich volcanic soil, ample rainfall, bright morning sunshine, and natural cloud cover that all contribute to producing one of the finest gourmet coffees in the world. We hand-pick, process and custom-roast the coffee beans from our farm to insure that you get the best of the unmistakable taste of the exquisitely aromatic and flavorful Kona coffee. Learn more about Kona Coffee and what it really takes to get it from that hole we jack hammered into the volcanic rock (to plant our baby coffee plants) all the way to the exceptional coffee in your cup just waiting for you to take a sip!

It's a strange year down on the farm. Back in 2018 we had some months with lots of rain, and some months were really dry. SInce the latter part of November, we have been quite dry. But the coffee trees are loaded with fruit and we are still harvesting -- while other farms have long since finished with their harvesting. So far my coffee trees are doing well, but complaining about the dryness some. The latest harvest is on my drying floor, soaking up some wonderful Kona sun since we have no volcanic gasses drifting over us any more. It is so nice to be able to look up the coastline through the pristine air. It's a good year down on the farm.

This fall we are having wonderful rains that help to make some really fat, juicy coffee beans. We have harvested over a thousand pounds already and lots more to come. We will still be picking beans into January, I suspect. After the cherries get converted into beans, they will need to age for several months before being ready to be roasted into some great Monk's Delight Kona Coffee. Have a wonderful fall!

I hope your fall wherever you are Stateside is delightful. Out here in Hawaii we actually have fall too -- just not so dramatic as yours. Our days are actually a bit cooler now, a blanket feels good on the bed at night and my plumeria trees -- the blooms of which are used to make leis -- are dropping their leaves getting ready for the winter dormant period. Apparently it is a tree that got transplanted here from a more temperate zone and it still thinks it should go through an annual leaf dropping. We have other trees like it that also drop their leaves, but none of them do the dramatic color changes so typical of fall conditions in the upper portions of Stateside.

The coffee harvest is winding down with lots of good coffee stored up ready to be roasted and turned into some delicious Kona coffee. We have had more rain this year than any year in the past eight and it had made for some very fat and delicious coffee beans. They've been carefully tended and stored, ready to be roasted and turned into some world-famous Kona coffee for your delectable drinking.

We just harvested over a ton of coffee cherries! The fattest and biggest ones we've had! And we have hundreds of pounds of coffee parchment on our drying floor, soaking up the warm Hawaiian sunshine and getting ready to be turned into some wonderful Kona Coffee.

Monk's Delight Kona Coffee is seriously into harvest season at this point. We've been picking for the past two weeks, and beans are drying out on the drying floors. It takes about a week of good sunshine to dry the beans down to the 11 - 13% moisture level that is ideal for storage.

Happy Labor Day! And labor we do. We have already had five pickings of nice, fat, ripe coffee cherries. Two harvests are spread out on our drying floor turning from coffee cherry beans into parchment -- when it gets nice and dry, you can rattle the beans about inside the dry parchment hulls. We have to rake and turn the beans regularly to promote good drying. Then we need to cover the beans at night or whenever rain threatens so they will stay dry and keep getting dryer -- should that be drier?? We little ol' coffee farmers don't know all this English stuff! The harvests are coming, order up some wonderful Monk's Delight Kona Coffee to make your day special.

Harvesting has been completed. Next we gleaned the field of all left-over "raisins" - coffee cherries that got missed and turn dark brown and are, potentially, home to the Coffee Berry Borer beetle larvae. After that we have gone through the field pruning and stumping some of the trees -- all in the process of rejuvenating the trees for the next harvest. Finally, we put our a good load of fertilizer to give them an extra boost as the trees start the process of creating the next harvest. Bon Appetit!

Here it is 2016 and we have a big harvest out in the field waiting to be picked. Lots of Kona farms have already completed their 2015 harvesting, but our trees have decided to give us one more big harvest before starting out on the 2016 crop. We have lots of Medium, City and Dark roast coffee ready for your consumption. Stop off at the website and buy some!
