It is our honor to endorse TJ Welch for Capitola City Council.
We have known TJ for many years, and we have had the opportunity to see firsthand not just the leader he is, but the kind of person he is.
TJ has always been someone who shows up when it matters. He has volunteered at major events here in Capitola for many years, including going back to the early days when we first opened. He has always been there—not because he had to be, but because he genuinely cares about this community.
And we have seen that commitment especially during some of Capitola’s most difficult times. When our Village and our community were hit by storms, natural disasters, and other challenges, TJ was there. He offered his time, his knowledge, and his support—mentally, morally, and physically.
That is what leadership means to us.
Leadership isn’t just about having a title. It is about showing up, taking responsibility, helping people through difficult times, and caring about the community you serve.
TJ brings that kind of experience with him. His 32 years in the fire service and his experience as a Battalion Chief and Capitola Planning Commissioner have given him years of experience dealing with difficult situations, bringing people together, and serving the public.
But beyond his résumé, we believe what matters most is the person behind it.
TJ is a good human being. He cares about Capitola. He cares about the people who live here, the businesses that make our Village special, and the community we all call home.
We’ve seen it personally, and we’ve seen it consistently over the years.
It is our privilege to endorse TJ Welch for Capitola City Council.
TJ, thank you for always showing up for Capitola—and for being the kind of person our community can count on.
