HOLY WEEK:

At the time of this biblical text, is the Passover Feast. All Jewish males over 12 were required to attend the Jewish Festival. The Passover was a celebration of God passing over the homes that were marked with a lamb’s blood. It allowed God to passover killing the firstborn sons. You can read more about this in Exodus 12.

The chief priests and scribes were well aware of the large crowd that would be in the city for the feast, so they changed their minds with crafting a plan to kill Jesus for this particular day because they did not want it to be an uproar from the people due to the celebration.

Jesus was going against the status quo and the religious leaders wanted to get rid of him. At one point they wanted to throw him off a cliff. Jesus operated in power and authority. When He taught in the temples, people would ask, “Who is this man who teaches with such authority?”

Jesus was walking out the will of God; yet he knew that death was approaching; nevertheless, the death and resurrection was the beginning of a new life for you and me.

Praying for you this week!

Meet Eric Hale, the first Black man in Texas history to be named Texas Teacher of the Year 🙌🏾—a first-grade teacher at Burnet Elementary in Dallas who was announced as the 2021 Texas Teacher of the Year in 2020. From using music to keep his students engaged, to leading his class to an incredible 95% average passing rate on exams over the last five years, he’s turning a classroom of kids—most living in poverty and many first-generation Americans—into confident scholars and leaders. This is what representation, dedication, and love for students looks like. 💜
