Today I became an American. 🇺🇸

I was born and raised in Taiwan. I met my husband Clark in Shanghai, where we both had good corporate jobs and a comfortable expat life. We could have stayed. Instead, with a six-month-old son in our arms, we made the harder choice — to come home to Clark's roots here in the North Country and build something of our own.

That was more than five years ago. Getting to this moment — standing up, raising my right hand, and becoming a U.S. citizen — has taken patience, paperwork, and a lot of faith. And in those same years, this place gave us everything we hoped for. We built a house. We became stewards of two North Country businesses — Nature's Storehouse in Canton and Adirondack Fragrance Farm, the family brand Clark's mother Sandy started in her farmhouse kitchen back in 1979. And we welcomed our second child.

Two businesses. Two kids. One very big new passport.

People ask why we left a comfortable life overseas to start over in a small town in northern New York. The answer is simple: this is where we wanted to put down roots. The North Country took a chance on a young family from the other side of the world, and we've spent every day since trying to earn it.

I'm not just living here anymore. I'm a citizen here. ❤️
