đĄ PROPERTY TAXES: A QUESTION TEXANS SHOULD BE ASKING
For years, Texans have been told that property tax relief is coming.
Yet every year, many homeowners continue to watch their appraisals rise, their tax bills increase, and the dream of owning a home become more expensive to maintain.
Meanwhile, in Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis recently called a special legislative session to place a constitutional amendment before voters that could dramatically expand homestead exemptions and potentially eliminate property taxes for many primary residences if approved by the voters in 2026.
Whether you agree with Florida's approach or not, one thing is undeniable:
A conversation is happening.
A proposal is on the table.
A vote is being scheduled.
The question many Texans are asking is simple:
Why isn't Texas having the same level of discussion about long-term property tax elimination?
Texans don't need more campaign slogans. They need clear plans, open debate, and measurable action. Homeowners, retirees, farmers, ranchers, and small business owners deserve to know what the future holds and what solutions are being seriously considered.
Property taxes affect nearly every family in this state. For many, it is not a political issueâit's a kitchen table issue.
The question is no longer whether property taxes are a burden.
The question is: What is the long-term plan, and when will Texans get the opportunity to decide for themselves?
Texas deserves a serious conversation about the future of property taxes.
