We Have a Long History.

Built in 1884, Lyman Robison’s family home was under construction for 2 years. The Robison’s sandstone and brick home’s exterior included two-story bay windows on both sides of the mansion. The caps of all the windows and doors were crafted with Berlin stone and marvelously chiseled in Stonecutter style. Covered in metal shingles, the mansard roof was encompassed by a wide heavy cornice and contained a cast iron widow’s walk.

The interior of Royal Gorge Mansion (also known historically as The Robison Mansion) was nothing short of a construction wonder. The two parlor rooms and formal dining room are detailed with gold rose and leaf enhancements. Detailed chandeliers from India give off light throughout the Mansion. Imported from Austria, the winding Honduran mahogany staircase, was completely made by hand with no nails. This magnificent staircase embraces all three stories of the mansion.

The kitchen used to extend to the second floor. The first floor of the kitchen included the best of appliances at the time and a large pantry with a china closet. On the second floor of the kitchen, was a small kitchen which served the needs of the family.

There are three fireplaces in the home that were imported from Italy and their ornate tiling and mahogany woodwork complemented the impressive stairway. The second floor included the family bedrooms, as well as bedrooms for the servants, and a bathroom. The plans for the third floor were to serve as a social gathering place for social events.
