Carmela and Charlie Bono started their Pizza adventure in October 1988, when they invested in a small pizza and sub shop in the heart of Wilmington, Delaware. Charlie’s Pizzaman was known for its phenomenal pizza, scrumptious sandwiches, creamy, classic cheesecake and friendly atmosphere. It was a glorious start to their love affair with food. There they stayed until October 2000, when they opened

their new Italian Ristorante, Café Luna. At Café Luna (Wilmington, Delaware), Charlie and Carmela were able to give their customers a real taste of what Italian food is. They had 8 lovely tables where diners could sit and enjoy a good meal after a hard day! Some of your favorites are still on the menu today. Café Luna was their pride and joy. They were able to really focus on homemade sauces, soups, and hearty dishes to please every palate. Their 3 children worked with them to build a wonderful business. Marianna waited tables; Michael cleaned and restocked; Stefano made pizza. Alas, the economy fell and running a business became impossible. Charlie and Carmela locked their doors in February 2009, vowing to open a bigger, better, place when the time was right. Carmela’s Cucina opened March 1, 2012 in Cambridge, Maryland. Right away, Charlie and Carmela felt right at home. They love being able to see their happy customers enjoy a home-cooked Italian meal or a freshly baked pizza. They serve their customers like they would serve their family; big portions, fresh ingredients, and lots of love. Carmela’s Cucina, literally means Carmela’s Kitchen. Charlie and Carmela relocated the restaurant to have more parking, a standalone building and more
