With the heaviest hearts, today, February 19th 2023, is our very last day as a community family, at the Caldwell Airport Cafe. It's been a the most amazing 16 years of my life for myself, Becky, to be able to serve such a wonderful community of Pilots and the amazing people that live in our beautiful Treasure Valley. Not no mention the people across the United States I've met through their travels. If it weren't for our Customers support through the years, I honestly wouldn't be who I am today and that's confident. You all have been so amazing to my life and my family's lives. You've given me a safe place to share with others through laughter and love. We have memories through that little place that nothing can replace or nobody can take away from us.
For my Grandma's Legacy of something she created and loved so much was her own little cafe. Grandma Carol grew up working as a waitress in several restaurants in Caldwell like The Holiday Inn and Freita's Cafe. When she started working at the Caldwell Airport in the 1990s at a little Cafe named "C**k of the Walk." She was hired as a waitress by a woman named Joe. Joe was the owner/cook and as a child I, Becky, got the honor to do dishes on the weekends when I was about 11 years old. So much fun!!!! A kid making her own money right!!! In a short time later, my Grandma took ownership and called the Cafe, the Airport Café. My Grandma had her two daughter as waitresses and my little sister, Jessica was the dishwasher. After years went by, I started working for my Grandma full time when I was 18 years old. Over the years my cousins, Anthony and Adrian have also worked at the Cafe. So many memories working with my Grandma everyday for 6 years. If you knew Grandma Carol, she was one feisty, fun, loving woman. She made sure you left with a memory. Grandma worked 7 days a week for the longest time before she had taught me to cook. She was a teacher for sure. That woman can cook! I had no clue with no experience on a grill. Owning my Grandma's business for the last 10 years has been such an honor to carry on. She is still so proud of what that little Cafe has turned into.
To My Sister Jessica: You have been my back bone! I couldn't have done this without you. You have sacrificed every single weekend for the last 10 years because you love the place just as much as I do, and just as much as Grandma does. Being able to work with you Jess has made us so close and I thank God for that. You have put in the work just as I have done for these amazing people who we get to surround ourselves with. I love you Sister, and I will show you the gratitude I have for you for the rest of my life and then some.
We have shared many tears with some beautiful people this last week. We love you all and like I've been saying "this isn't goodbye forever" ♥️
