When the cabinetry phase begins, we work closely with our clients to bring their vision to life!

We believe that providing plenty of options and detailed visuals is one of the most important parts of the design process. Our custom cabinetry boards allow clients to explore everything from cabinet styles and finishes to storage solutions and those little details that make a space feel personal.

We want our clients to feel confident in every decision before a single cabinet is built.

Thoughtful design starts long before construction begins. 🤍

If you’re building or remodeling, don’t treat the laundry room like an afterthought. 👀

I’m sharing the laundry room sizes I recommend—from a petite 6’×3’ setup to a 9’×12’+ space for larger families—plus the storage details that can save you time every single week.

House plans on my screen, little girls splashing beside me. 🤍

Some days, building Daylily looks like taking my work outside so I can be close to my daughters while I design homes for other families.

There’s plenty of juggling behind this little glimpse, but I’m thankful for afternoons like these.

Residential design, motherhood, and the life happening in between.

This one really shows how much warmth the right materials can bring to a home. 🤎

Dark metal siding + a standing seam roof give this exterior a strong, timeless base, while the natural wood beams and stone details keep it from feeling too heavy. Add in the deep porches, dormers, and simple landscaping and it feels right at home in Louisiana.

One of my favorite parts of the design process is taking a floor plan and turning it into something a client can actually *see* before construction ever begins.

Today’s Substack post is about laundry… but really, it’s about something I think about constantly as a residential designer:

How do we make our homes work better for the people actually living in them?

Good design is more than a pretty kitchen or the perfect exterior. It’s thinking about where the backpacks land, where the laundry piles up, how the closets function, where everyday things are stored, and how a home can make family life a little easier.

That’s a big part of what I want to share on A House Full.

Yes, I’ll be writing about motherhood, homemaking, raising four girls, and the systems that help me manage our own home — but I’m also going to be pulling back the curtain on residential design.

Coming soon:
• how I became a residential designer
• what the job actually looks like
• my design process from first inquiry to final plans
• what I’ve learned from working with homeowners and builders
• floor plan and home-design guidance
• things I wish more people knew before building
• and plenty of behind-the-scenes from Daylily

If you enjoy following Daylily but want more of the why behind the homes, the business, and the life happening inside them, come follow me on Substack.

And today’s post starts with something very glamorous:

Laundry. 😂

Because sometimes the best home-design lesson is simply figuring out how to keep six people in clean clothes.
