A day in April of 1997, my grandpa and dad opened up the front flaps of the trailer and started serving the best product they could. That summer I spent time w**d eating grass taller than I was, painting the top of the modified horse trailer, and throwing rocks into a 5 gal bucket because we had no customers. Over the years, Mean Pig became a household name built over countless sponsorships of ball teams, gymnastics, scouts, military and many more. We were there for your kids birthday, high school graduation, engagement parties, countless weddings, and too many funerals. We’ve had the greatest pleasure serving our community, building relationships, growing young employees. I had to learn a lot about running a restaurant and everything that entails. While some may disagree, we always did our best to make things right when we messed up. Some that complain about how our sandwich has gotten smaller, they forget that we gave away hams for Christmas for pennies on the dollar just the year before.
With all that being said, this is our last 4th of July. After this weekend we will hand over ownership and they will begin a new chapter, with a new restaurant, and start a new adventure for their family. I hope that you’re able to show them more love than the chain stores, support them more than the razorbacks, and give them grace when things get messed up. Cabot, it’s been a good 29 years. I hope the best for the new owners. I wish my staff the best in this transition. I hope the haters find somewhere new to whine about. We love you and we are grateful for everything you’ve done for us the last 29 years.
