Good morning....

I hope this goes through to y'all. "Puter has been doing strange things this morning. Some might say it's the operator....the operator would tell you this device is inhabited by gremlins.

As I sat down to compose this, Domino Kitten jumped into the paper recycle basket. There were a couple of plastic grocery bags which had floated into the basket, so he got into one. Then he jumped out of the basket. The plastic bag came with him. Tried backing out of it. Didn't work. Nothing left to do but to tear through the house at break-neck speed hoping the pesky bag would dislodge. He emerged from the bedroom unencumbered by the bag, looking satisfied that he had bested the "beast." Said bag is MIA.

Good morning....

I say that with some trepidation considering the past few weeks at the McLean house. Everything happens in threes. Right? Pray that it's so!! First the dishwasher. Or was it the lightning "fried" television? How quickly we forget the order in which the events occurred.

Then last Sunday the AC kept running but not cooling. We left for the hotel (after the repairman came and pronounced it dead and the house temp reached 89 degrees) about 10 pm. Domino Kitten didn't like the heat in his fur coat, but he wasn't really happy with the uprooting of his domain. He wandered the hotel room crying, hid under the beds, finally settled (sort of) next to Vicki. But his eyes were WIDE and ALERT for dangers unknown and imminent.

The next morning an Angel appeared and said, "Come stay here." "Here" was her in-laws' home. "Here" was room to move for himself and Lambie, windows to look out of, a long hall to chase after his "people." Home away from home for Vicki & me.

Nice, you say? Yes. But add in dinner delivered! Home cooked when you're certain it's going to be drive thru 'til the new AC is in. How do you thank someone for that? Well, you say, "Thank you" to our sweet friend Para....knowing it's not nearly enough!

We're home again and cool. Joe tried to find a compressor to repair the AC, but twenty years is a long time between compressors. So, it's a brand new AC! Good for another 20 years!!

Joe is Hooks Heating & Air. He's our neighbor, friend and solver of problems. We just call Joe....and we thank him, too.

Sorry for the inconvenience of closing suddenly. We're catching up and planning (hoping the "gods" aren't laughing!!) a normal next week.

THE DRUGSTORE DELI WILL BE CLOSED THURSDAY

THANKS FOR YOUR CONTINUED PATIENCE

THEY HAVE THE NEW AIR CONDITIONER INSTALLED BUT IT TAKES TIME TO COOL IN THIS HOT WEATHER. They are still staying at Vinsonville for the time being. It has been very stressful for them as well as Domino and they need another day to recuperate.

Hopefully Friday will be the day will keep you all updated

Good morning.....

Told you about the storm a couple of weeks ago that fried the TV. Well, it damaged the WIFI, which hung on 'til it didn't. So last week we had no internet to email y'all the menu.

Cox came, unplugged the WIFI (since we don't use it) and we were back on line! Don't you hate having the repairman come to do something so simple? But who knew?

AND, Domino Kitten is over these huge men coming into his house. He's almost too big to "observe" from under the bed!!

Good morning.....

Well, if it was just the rain on Saturday night, but, not to be. The thunder and lighting was fierce and short-lived. And right over the house! We lost the internet and the TV cable. AND the television. As in it's dead. Problematic for two people and Domino Kitten (he listens!) who wanted to see the World Cup Final on Sunday.

But, we are blessed with lovely neighbors. They deliver their second TV sets and hook up everything!! Unfortunately, the remotes didn't match and we only discovered how to solve that issue when the technician came on Monday. Talk about going beyond .....

Domino Kitten was upset about the World Cup so he tore through the house at breakneck speed to relieve the angst! He's feeling better, thank you very much!

Good morning.....

It's been a bit quiet at the McLean homestead....Domino Kitten has been sick with some sort of stomach ailment. Very subdued and a bit pitiful. Very different from the dashing and doing.

However, we're mending. He's back to dashing and doing, but then, he needs a nap.....more so than kitty's usually need.

He's not fond of his meds and even yummy canned food doesn't hide them enough. We've explained that they will make him feel better faster, but he's not convinced. Stubborn, you know.

Yesterday, Shred Monster came to take away loads of paper. I've spent the last couple of weeks going through files and boxes to w**d out the clutter. Feels very satisfying. It was tax info and important stuff; next is the food stuff. Recipes that I thought looked good, but with more scrutiny, didn't. We may need two Shred Monster trucks!!!

Soccer is almost over. Insert sad face. The French team was eliminated yesterday. We're hoping the Brits can win today, but it's Messi against Kane.

Good morning....

As I write this, big scary men (from Domino Kitten's view) are on our deck making lots of noise! They were there yesterday and he had to keep watch for several hours. Exhausting work!! He collapsed after they finished and woke this morning ready to protect and defend the homestead again! Dedication!!

Repairs, repairs....besides the repairs on the deck, the dishwasher decided to spring a leak after a lot of years of use. I can't complain....yes, I can! Cause the dishwasher won't get here til later in the month.....coming in from outer Mongolia, apparently....so it's "keep the Kitten away" from the open front of the machine. Everyone should have cases of soft drinks in front of their dishwashers. Stay here for decorating tips!

Good morning...

Well, Sunday at the McLean homestead was eventful. Trey came to move the finally separated and boxed holiday decorations to the garage. Garage emptied and sweeped. Then, the tax boxes came inside to be culled for shredding. (Shred Monster is going to be busy!!) Then boxes of pictures to organize and boxes of stuff saved for some, at this point, unknown reason.

Then, shopping for the week....well, 3 days since Saturday is July 4th.

Finally, a chance to stop moving for a while and cool off from all the activity. Only, we didn't cool off. By the time the AC repairman arrived, it was a stifling 86 degrees. Seems the compressor got a bit of a shock from the lightning the night before and was sporadically kicking on and off 'til it decided "off" was where it wanted to stay.

However warm Vicki and I were, we weren't wearing a fur coat. Domino Kitten was feeling the heat and looked stressed. An ice pack wrapped in a towel is a great kitty bed when the temp is 86 degrees. We have pics of him stretched across it cooling off. Kitty AC!

About Saturday, July 4th.....the Deli will be closed. Enjoy America's Birthday Party!
