HARVEST MOON FESTIVAL HAS BEEN POSTPONED!

09/16/2026

Gelato is huge in Italy, and we feel “obligated” to try as many Gelateria’s as our stomachs (and clothing) can handle (thank God for elastic waistbands 🤪! Adam and I have tried numerous Gelateria’s while in Como, Venice and Florence. The best flavors so far in our opinion are: tiramisu, pistachio (Adam’s favorite), coffee crunch, coconut, stracciatella, and zuppa inglese (the best flavor ever, nice and fluffy with cake-like pieces and light in texture like whip cream, but it’s an older style flavor that is hard to make and hard to find - only found it in 1 shop). We found this Gelateria, Perchè No in Florence on our Florence Old City Street Food Tour on Monday, Sept. 14th. We went back last night to get a zuppa inglese before we left Florence but unfortunately they are closed on Tuesdays 😭. We walked around to 10-12 more gelateria’s and could not find that flavor.

Semifreddo (Italian: [ˌsemiˈfreddo]; lit. 'half-cold') is a class of frozen desserts prepared mainly with egg whites, sugar, and cream.[1][2] It has a light, airy texture likened to mousse or light cake that is created by whipping air into the mixture before freezing.[2][3][4][5] Some recipes place cake, nougat, sliced fruit, caramelised fruit, jelly or pudding at the core and base of the semifreddo.[5]
