Happy Memorial Day! To honor those who have fallen, today, we have prepared the missing man table.
The white tablecloth represents the purity of Service.
The empty chair represents the seat that remains unclaimed, honoring those who cannot attend.
A single glass, inverted for those unable to partake in the toast.
A single red rose for the lives of the missing and the families who keep awaiting answers.
A red ribbon for continued determination to account for the missing.
A slice of lemon for the bitter fate of those missing or captured.
A pinch of salt for the tears of the families.
A lit candle for the hope of a safe return.
A Bible for the strength gained to sustain the loss of a loved one.
As we celebrate today, don’t forget the reason. We keep the chair for the men and women who never came home. They can’t dine with us tonight, but they are never forgotten.
