Thereās a great debate going on between my momās version (Tina Lipofsky Friedman) of the traditional Jewish penicillin vs my modern take on Jewish penicillin. Traditional is chicken broth with the usual suspects of onion, celery and carrot. Add the egg noodles and matzo balls, and youāve got a bland but nostalgic bowl of soup.
My modern twist includes searing the chicken with spices, adding the usual suspects along with potato, deglazing the pan with white wine, adding a parmesan rind and topping with cream and all the delicious green herbs. Add your egg noodles and matzo balls and you get a tasty bowl of goodness.
Which version do you think my boss will like more? Is he a traditionalist or will he cross over to the dark side and devour the modern twist?!
