Ithaca food dude Thank you for taking this public conversation to our page, which allows us to provide the full context that your review missed. As a small business in a small village, public feedback deeply impacts us, and we believe our community deserves the complete picture. We are deeply sorry that your food was late. It was a stressful situation for our team because we experienced an unexpected internet outage with our provider, Haefele. While we have a cellular backup system specifically to prevent this, our building's metal roof blocked the cellular signal on this particular day. This meant your order did not print in the kitchen as it normally does. We did our best to remedy the wait by offering you a free dessert, and we genuinely apologize for the delay. However, we will not apologize for closing at our scheduled time of 1:00 PM for afternoon prayers. Our hours are clearly posted, and our staff has a right to their faith and their scheduled breaks. Giving you a box at 12:58 PM was a courtesy to ensure you could take your meal with you, not a "fake smile" to push you out.Regarding the photo of the "ugly" gyro you shared: a gyro is meant to be eaten tightly wrapped as a roll. Unwrapping it entirely opens the components up, which changes the intended presentation and structure.Had you kept this to a private message, we would have gladly explained the technical glitch and made it right privately. Because you chose to take this public, we felt it was necessary to defend our hard-working staff and clarify the situation. We wish you and Mrs. D the best.
