The "Black Cow" drink - also known as a root beer float - originated in Colorado and was invented in 1893 by Frank J. Wisner, who was the owner of the Cripple Creek Brewing Company...

Originally named a "Black Cow Mountain" by Wisner in honor of the local peak, the name got abbreviated by the public as it became more poplular...

The drink has many variations - including one where a teaspoon of chocolate syrup is added - but its deliciousness lies in its simplicity: just cold root beer topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! A perfect combination!
