Alrightie folks, so its time to let the public know whats going on at Rosies. We are closing the doors. We have loved sharing our food with all of you, but I'm sure you have noticed that Jen has been absent from the public for a while now. Our owner/operator Jen has had to pull out of the public eye due to repeatedly being ill. Since 2021 long covid and a cascade of issues have caused significant health issues for her. The medicines that help, also make getting sick from common ailments a reality. In fact, the building Rosies is in has normal issues you might see in a 100 year old building with wet areas, but because she is immunocompromised its just making her sick. That plus public bouts of covid, flu, and stomach bugs just make it too risky. We want to thank you all for your patronage. We want to thank you also for our recent award as best restaurant in Buffalo via Bizrate and Google reviews. It has truly been our pleasure to serve you and our seasonal tourists.
**If you're local, please remember to shop local and eat local. Our downtown is suffering this winter, to a level we have not seen since covid hit. We have new roads but we have had a terrible summer because of construction. Next year, they plan on doing sidewalks. The stark reality is our downtown will start shuttering if we do not push through to visit our stores and restaurants. I would guess on average the downtown shops have seen a 20 % plus loss this year. To put that in a perspective relative to what I know as a restaurant, the average profit annually is 3 to 6 percent after three years. 20 percent loss is huge. If people are not shopping they are not stopping to eat either. While Rosies is closing because our owners health, I can say with stats like we have seen this year, it would have been just a matter of time. If you like having Thai food, local music in a hometown bar, local arts and gifts, ci**rs wafting from a well used rocking chair, festivals and local markets in the square, then....shop at home. Walk with your family through downtown to our parks and trails. Visit the places your grandfather or even great-grandfather and grandmothers helped build. .
