Anchor Bar’s story began in 1964 in Buffalo, New York, when Teressa Bellissimo accidentally created the first Buffalo Chicken Wing by deep frying the chicken wings and tossing them in a secret sauce. Since then, Anchor Bar has become a globally recognized sensation, earning the James Beard Foundation’s America’s Classics Award in 2003. This Anchor Bar Location is designed as a destination for all sports fans to watch their favorite sport on multiple screen TV’s.

Our Anchor Bar Original (Medium) recipe is the sauce that made the Buffalo Chicken Wing Famous! Mama Teressa combined a spectacular blend of ingredients on that late evening in 1964 not knowing she would be the creator of the world-famous Buffalo Chicken Wing!

Our Original recipe is a proud recipient of the James Beard Quality Institute Medal “Best of the Best” Award in 2003, as well as multiple awards at the National Chicken Wing Festival. Anchor Bar History Friday – How did the motorcycles become part of Anchor Bar’s décor?

Anchor Bar is not only famous for being the birthplace of the Buffalo Chicken Wing. We are also known for a highly distinct motorcycle and sports bar atmosphere.
Ivano Toscani, former General Manager and Owner of the Anchor Bar had a passion for motorcycle riding and collecting. He raced motorcycles in Italy and continued his passion when he moved to the United States.

His first Harley Davidson motorcycle had the capacity to go up to 150 miles per hour. Realizing it was too fast to drive in the city of Buffalo, he decided to retire it. The Harley Davidson convention was driving through Buffalo on their way to Chicago so Ivano and his friends thought it would be a good idea to put it up and then take it down once they got through Buffalo visits.

Visitors enjoyed it so much that Ivano decided to leave it up. As Ivano continued his passion for motorcycle riding and collecting, they multiplied from there to now a total of 16 in the restaurant today.

These vintage and classic motorcycles include antique Harley Davidsons, 1958 BMW, 1995 Motor Guzzi, 2006 Limited Edition Paul Smart Ducati and so many more for our visitors to see!
