Just a friendly FYI if you find a deceased cat , any vet will scan for free. This can help bring closure to a family that's searching, also it can let others know if the deceased cat was lactating n that we should all get searching for kittens to HELP them, whatever that may look like, trapping kittens over 8 weeks so they can be placed into foster, etc ( please don't "collect" kittens when moms are out looking for food and then drop off at a shelter ,that's not being a hero that's literally making orphan bottle babies that need their ( mostly) feral mothers who are also in need of being fixed, many of those kittens will die. Taking babies is not going to stop the cycle of suffering, it will only continue. Please get involved and learn to TNR as trappers are spread thin n rescues are FULL. Feral cats have limited vet options, never trap without a plan and please and thank you go a long way. There's a very long never ending list of colonies that haven't even begun to be fixed, because #1 people refuse to stop dumping cats #2 they don't want to learn how to clean up their own yard let anyone else's. Looking away is the definition of animal abuse. If you find a deceased cat, even if it's ear tipped ,don't assume it's not a lost pet. If a trapper is fixing 14 cats in a day there's no way to access the temperament on the way to the vet...so everyone will be eartipped. If you lose a cat , it is possible to be reunited months later through a microchip, however the cat may look considerably different, weight loss, gain , injuries, etc. They can be found across town especially in winter, they get warm in engines...you drive to work miles n miles, and then cat gets out when you park your car! So pound in the hood! There's a lot of misinformation on fb, once a cats PHOTO is posted pleae give correct and as much info as possible INCLUDING what YOU will do to help ( this includes returning any borrowed equipment!) we can't help other cats if equipment is not returned :( there's no such thing as a wealthy trapper, please be prepared to do what YOU can do to help with the population control in your area , thank you so much. So again, found cat, even if deceased , any vet can scan for free, ear tip does not mean it's π― a feral community cat. There will NEVER be enough homes. This isn't a debate, if you have questions feel free to comment but this is a short fyi as I see more n more lost n found cats but I don't see many posts that follow through , like cats being scanned, checking to see if the cat has recently birthed... And overall there is no good reason for a domesticated cat to be outside, ever. I've heard the excuses, and I can rebuttal with facts but it's FB so I expect comments to get ugly. Anyone genuinely interested in helping cats can email [email protected] and I'll respond with whatever I can find to assist that particular situation. Like cats, feed. Love them, fix. It's that simple. Thank you have a blessed night n thank you for keeping our neighborhood healthy n happy that includes the animals.
