After nearly 3 years of baking for , I’ve decided to take a bit of a hiatus for the summer. Obviously, like it did for everyone, the pandemic changed a lot of things for me. A couple big factors in this decision: I haven’t been based in the city for nearly a year and haven’t had childcare in 15 months. Something had to give—at least for now. I’ll reevaluate in the fall and see if it makes sense for me (and for them!) to bring my stuff back. Either way, it’s been such an honor to get to supply this lovely neighborhood shop for so long. I’m going to miss seeing their faces for the next couple months! If you’re lucky enough to be nearby, though, pop over and grab an oat milk latte, k? 💚🌱

I’ve been receiving some inquiries as to whether I’ll be doing Thanksgiving desserts again this year. I can’t tell you how touched I am. I’ve been going back and forth about it for the past several weeks, and I’ve decided that the best decision for me personally is to keep putting a hold on things for the remainder of the year. I feel so bad to disappoint, but I do think this is the right call.
This was obviously not at all the year I’d planned for uprooted. It’s not the year any of us had planned for anything, though! We’ll see what 2021 holds.
In the meantime, I am still keeping stocked with my baked goods—blueberry muffins, oatmeal raisin muffins, and this chocolate chip tahini banana bread.

I’m really disappointed to say this, but I also believe it’s the right call: I’ve made the difficult decision to not participate in this month’s . It’s become very clear that social distancing is the most important thing we can do right now to help mitigate things. Despite my overwhelming excitement at being a first-time shop-up vendor and having already procured all necessary supplies and begun prep work, this feels like the responsible decision.
As a nod to tomorrow’s date, 3/14 (aka Pi Day), I had been planning to show up with these cheeky little blueberry hand pies. Now I’m stuck with a whole bunch of them (hard times, I know.) Even though it will no longer be Pi Day, if things are looking better in a month or so, and I’m able to snag a spot at VSU again, perhaps I’ll bring some with me then? 🥧

I’ve been waiting to post teasers until I was sure, but as of this afternoon is still happening. In addition to my Apple Chai Scones, I’ll have these lovely Vanilla Pomegranate Scones in the case—fragrant with vanilla bean and stuffed with sweet pops of pom arils.

And hopefully this is a given, but if you’re feeling under the weather, please stay home and rest! With any luck, this will be my first of many VSUs, so there will be more opportunities to nab treats in the future. To those who are well and planning to come, I look forward to seeing you! This is a carrot cake. The exact one pictured went to a lucky birthday celebration today, but here’s a bit of luck for you: I’ll be making more for this weekend!
This carrot cake hits all the same buttons as a traditional version, but with a couple of tweaks that make it extra special. In addition to some of the classic spices, I add a bit of cardamom, and, instead of the more typically-used walnuts, I go for toasty pecans. As always, it’s 100% vegan + gluten-free (that tangy frosting is made with cashew cream cheese).
Reviews from the birthday gathering came in quickly and were as follows: “What a cake!!! We all, even the non-vegans, loved it. Absolutely one of the best cakes we've all ever had.”

After some hibernation on the business front due to all the personal obligations that the winter months bring—I’m back! And what better way to kick things off than with my very first appearance? I am SO excited.
These past couple years have been a mixture of doing my own thing and saying “yes” to whatever was thrown my way. Saying “yes” has led me to have some incredible experiences and accomplish things I never would have imagined I could, which is obviously great. But this year, I want to be more intentional about the things I take on. Doing VSU is pure intention.
I want to bring my creations to as many of you as possible; a brick and mortar is the dream. Alas, with a young kiddo and the insanity that is the NYC real estate market, I’ve decided that isn’t in the cards...yet. For now, we shop-up!
Come visit me on 3/14 ! It’ll be a bakeshop spread. I’ll have a variety of muffins and scones, chocolate chip tahini banana bread, cake (and maybe even some cheesecake) by the slice. See you there! 💚🌱

It’s hard for me to play favorites with the things I make; I’m not going to make something I wouldn’t want to eat. And yet. Sometimes certain things secure a special place in my heart. This Citrus Ginger loaf is now one of them. It’s moist and springy, and, quite simply, I just enjoy eating it.
This morning I dropped a loaf of this off along with several dozen other goodies for a special office spread. I’ve been debating whether I’d tackle another big project before the end of the year, but I’ve decided to lay low this month, spend time with family, get some things in order, and take care of myself a bit.
There are already things on the calendar and taking shape in my constantly-spinning brain for next year, though. I have so many more things I can’t wait to create and share. 💚🌱

The Salted Caramel Apple Cake is officially SOLD OUT! I listed very limited quantities of this one because, to be totally honest, it’s fairly labor intensive. All the components are handmade, which means a whole lot of melted, sputtering sugar, folks. I was wondering if anyone would be into cake for Thanksgiving, but you went for it.
