A Farewell to Greenpoint

May 28 will mark our final service at 150 Green Street.

ILIS has been a dream of mine for more than a decade, a place built through curiosity, creativity, and the belief that food can bring people together in meaningful ways. What we created here became far more than a restaurant. It became a home shaped by everyone who walked through our doors.

Recently, our home in Greenpoint was sold, and as a result, we lost our lease. It is deeply sad to say goodbye to a place and neighborhood that have meant so much to us.

But this is not the end of ILIS, only the beginning of a new chapter.

We are already looking toward our next home and planning what comes next. Please stay tuned as we continue sharing the journey ahead.

We hope you’ll join us over these final weeks in Greenpoint and be part of this chapter before we begin the next one. To celebrate these final weeks, we’ll also be opening on Tuesdays, with dinner service now running Tuesday through Saturday until May 28.

With gratitude,
Mads

As the seasons shift, we say goodbye to a few dishes. One of them—

Slow-grilled leeks.

Green tops shaped into a plate.
White part slowly grilled.
Outer leaves folded around caviar and hazelnut oil, kissed by the embers.
The center, soft like marrow.
Ginkgo nuts and a sauce of caramelized leeks and coffee.

We’ve loved spending Sundays with you over the past three months - ending the week around the table, seeing familiar faces, and welcoming new ones.

As the season shifts, the series comes to an end.

This Sunday, March 29 will be our last supper and we’d love to have you with us.

Tuna Bone Marrow with Oysters and Sea Plants

Tuna bone marrow marinated in oyster dashi for salinity, served with North Haven oysters from Maine and sea plants.

Stone rose, sedum, ice lettuce, pickled beach rose, and giant kelp layer the dish, finished with oil pressed from yellow mustard seeds.

Served on ice to keep it chilled, using the oyster shell as the utensil.

Briny and savory.
