15 years ago, a hard Friday turned into the best thing we ever built. From that first shutter going up at 335 Union Ave to shipping our flavors nationwide on Goldbelly, every day has carried the same heart Carmen and Gina poured into it from day one.

Take a minute and watch our story β€” then come celebrate with us at 335 Union Ave, or order online. Here's to 15 years, and so many more. πŸŽ‰

What an amazing night Brooklyn Cupcake had last night! We had the honor of having our Puerto Rican made cupcakes as a parting gift at the premier of THE OMI HOPPER’S book release tour. A LOVE Letter to Puerto Rico. Thank you Omi! I cried with you everytime you shared a memory. I cannot wait to cook these yummy meals with my family. You are an inspiration. The most important person in a bakery is the baker. And ours is Emily.

In our first years, Carmen wore every hat in the shop β€” but baking was always the one that took the most out of her day. She built an offsite kitchen and team to keep up with demand, and a few assistant bakers came through over the years. Then came Emily β€” T**i Emily to Carmen and Gina's kids, but truly a sister to Carmen and Gina themselves. She joined the team through her best friend Amy, Carmen and Gina's little sister, at a crossroads in her life with zero baking experience.

When it came time to move the baking back into our small Union Ave kitchen, the real question was who could handle it all, alone, in that tiny space. Emily raised her hand without hesitation β€” and became one of NYC's top head bakers.

A few years ago, Emily faced a cancer diagnosis that shook our whole family. She stepped away to fight the hardest battle of her life, and our team took turns trying to fill shoes that had always looked effortless to fill. Somehow, they weren't. Emily, a single mother raising three children including a son with special needs, beat cancer β€” and came right back to the ovens, insisting on running the kitchen exactly like she always had.

Every cupcake and cake that leaves 335 Union Ave β€” every birthday, wedding, office party, and Goldbelly box, sometimes 3,000 cupcakes in a single day β€” starts with Emily. She's family, she's faith, and she's the heartbeat of this bakery.

Come celebrate Emily and 15 years of Brooklyn Cupcake with us β€” visit 335 Union Ave or order nationwide on Goldbelly. 🧑

Some friendships start with a cupcake order and turn into family.

Eunice, her husband David, her sister Maggie, and brother-in-law Devon have become some of Carmen's closest friends β€” sharing meals, trading stories, and traveling together, always bringing new ideas back to the little shop in Brooklyn.

Eunice has been part of every milestone since the day she walked in, and her influence on this bakery and this team is felt daily, 15 years running.

Come celebrate the friendships that built Brooklyn Cupcake β€” visit 335 Union Ave or order on Goldbelly. 🧑

Eunice wasn't kidding.

What started as one woman's promise turned into a steady stream, then a full-on parade β€” person after person walking through our doors announcing, "Eunice sent me." It felt like she knew everyone in the tri-state area and beyond. Every small business dreams of an evangelist like her, and we got the real thing.

In time, all of us at Brooklyn Cupcake got to say the same thing back: we're proud to know Eunice too.

15 years later, that same spirit of showing up for each other is still what makes this shop feel like home. Come be part of it β€” visit 335 Union Ave or order nationwide on Goldbelly.

And then came Eunice...

In a world where few people carry as much genuine influence as pure warmth, Eunice is one of a kind. It all started with a secret order β€” her sister quietly reaching out to surprise Eunice for her birthday. That one sweet gesture turned into a friendship neither of us saw coming.

"I'm going to send all my friends to Brooklyn Cupcake," Eunice told us. We smiled and said thank you β€” we had no idea what was coming.

15 years in, Eunice remains one of our biggest reasons to celebrate. Come see what all the fuss is about β€” visit 335 Union Ave or order on Goldbelly.

This is what belief looks like fifteen years later: Sonny Rodriguez, still dreaming up what's next for Brooklyn Cupcake.

Long before there was a shop to believe in, Sonny believed in her mom. She built her legacy here as our lead cake designer β€” and while she's since stepped back from the daily grind, she and Carmen still brainstorm together on every new flavor and every new idea, carrying forward the same instinct for possibility that started this whole journey.

From a flea market booth to a bakery that ships nationwide, Sonny's fingerprints are on all of it.

Before she was our lead cake designer, Sonny Rodriguez was Brooklyn Cupcake's very first believer.

Carmen's daughter has been by her mom's side since day one β€” not just as family, but as a creative partner. Sonny became our flavor scientist, the mind behind house classics like our French Toast Cupcake and Cafecito, plus the secret-menu favorite Tres Leches Red Velvet.

She's also been a steady, honest voice for the interns who've come through our doors over the years β€” offering real advice to young people just starting out, the same way someone once believed in her.

15 years in, this bakery is still a mother-daughter project at its heart. Come taste what that partnership built β€” visit 335 Union Ave or order nationwide on Goldbelly.

Every Brooklyn Cupcake story has a beginning, and ours starts with a teenager and a flea market in Northside Williamsburg.

One day after school, Sonny Rodriguez told her parents to pull over. She got out of the car, walked into that flea market, and asked what it would cost for her mom to set up a booth selling cupcakes β€” then offered to pay for it herself.

Carmen and dad were floored. Sonny didn't see risk, she saw possibility. That one moment of teenage conviction happened before anyone had ever said the words "cupcake shop" out loud β€” but it set everything in motion.

15 years later, we're still living out the vision of our original believer. Come celebrate with us β€” order on Goldbelly or stop by 335 Union Ave.
