After 14 years of cooking, creating, and connecting with you all, it breaks our hearts to say this… but it’s time for us to close Vellee.

When we lost our Northeast location seven months ago, we knew the clock was ticking. With legal matters still looming, we held the line for as long as we could, just to give you a little more time with Vellee.

We fought through every pivot, every setback, every unexpected challenge. From early mornings to late nights, from food truck days to brick-and-mortar life, we gave it everything we had.

But sometimes, no matter how hard you fight, life decides for you.

It’s not easy closing this chapter. But all we’re left with is gratitude.

Thank you. For showing up. For waiting in lines. For sharing meals, memories, and kind words. For letting us be part of your everyday routines and your most special moments. You gave this little dream of ours purpose. You made it feel like home.

To our Brooklyn Park fam—thank you for embracing our Tastic menu with such open arms. It was a reflection of our roots, and a tribute to our families, and our heritage. It celebrated the food we grew up on, learned from, and loved before we ever stepped into a kitchen professionally. Even though our time together was short, being able to share that part of ourselves with you meant everything.

We’ll carry everything this experience gave us into whatever comes next.

WE DID IT--THANKS TO YOU!

With your incredible support, we’ve reached our GoFundMe goal. This journey hasn’t been easy, with both of our stores temporarily closed, we experienced not only a loss in sales but also a significant loss of inventory. Your generosity has helped us recover, giving us the resources to get back on track. The Skyway location reopened this past Tuesday, and we’re working hard to have Brooklyn Park ready to open next week.

Beyond the financial relief, your support has given us a renewed sense of hope. Thank you for standing by us when the road felt impossible. Now it’s time to focus on pushing forward and we’re determined to take this as far as we can 💪💯

Despite our efforts, these negotiations honestly are not going our way. It’s clear that business is business, and we’re cutting through the fluff and seeing things for what they are. This means we won’t be able to continue our plans there as we had hoped. We recognize how this change alters the original purpose of the fundraiser, so we want to reach out to each donor personally via email to offer the option of a refund. This will be handled privately, with care and respect for your decision. Our GoFundMe has been updated to reflect these changes. Your support has TRULY meant the world to us. We’re grateful no matter what you decide to do.

Asking for help has never been easy for us, and it took a lot to set aside our pride to reach out, but the level of support we’ve received has been incredible. We cannot thank you enough.

If you’re wondering why our other locations are temporarily closed, it’s because Joyce and I are managing everything on our own right now. We handle all the operations—managing the stores, moving inventory between locations, shopping for supplies and raw ingredients. We don’t have family or full-time managers to help us out. Now we’re currently working with lawyers and meeting with our bankers to try to resolve these issues, which means our stores are left without inventory and we’re without extra support. That’s just what it is.

Through every challenge we’ve faced, we’ve always tackled it together, just as we have from the very beginning. For 13 years, through every high and low, from the happiest moments to the most difficult times. We’ve worked side by side every day, whether it’s prepping, leading our staff, we’re literally pouring over 80 hours of our hearts into this business. Everything is literally happening so fast, and the only thing that feels right is facing it together, as we always have. No matter what direction this takes, there’s peace in knowing we’ll still have each other. This journey has been ours from the start, and we’re committed to moving forward with the same dedication and strength.

We honestly don’t know how long it will take to get our Skyway and Brooklyn Park locations back on track. We’re doing everything we can just to regain our balance and move forward again. After all that’s happened, we’re setting a new, smaller fundraising goal of $15,000 to help us realign and recover from this huge setback. Your support through all of this has meant more than we can put into words. Seriously can’t thank everyone enough for all you’ve done in these past couple days. Everything Joyce and I poured into Vellee has truly come back to us in the most meaningful way.

We need to share some difficult news. As of now, we are forced to temporarily close our NE location while we try to work out a solution with our new landlord. Unless you live nearby, you may not know that ever since we opened, our streets have been plagued by two years of relentless construction, which has eliminated street parking and caused major disruptions to our retail parking lot, making it incredibly hard for many of you to reach us. In July, the building was sold to a new landlord, and despite our efforts to work things out, we were served with an eviction notice last week, leaving us with a very short time to make decisions. This has been a tough blow for us, but we’re doing everything we can to find a way through.

This means that all Vellee locations will be temporarily closing until we can resolve this situation. But the reality we’re facing is grim. If we can’t save our NE location, it could result in the permanent closure of all Vellee locations, including our Brooklyn Park spot, which only just opened five weeks ago. However, we want you to know that this is not the first time we’ve faced challenges. Over the years, there have been moments when we were unsure of the future, but it was your support, your loyalty, and your belief in us that helped us push through.

Your support during our hardest times has always been our lifeline. Every visit, kind word, and shared post has been more than we could ever ask for—it’s what kept us going when things were uncertain. We wouldn’t have made it this far without you, and for that, we are deeply thankful.

Now, more than ever, we need that strength. We are fully committed to continuing the fight and serving you, but we cannot do it alone. To help keep Vellee alive, we’ve created a GoFundMe.
