The Wooden Legs Brewing Company name is tongue in cheek homage to Judge Wilmot Wood Brookings. Judge Brookings is a significant figure in history of South Dakota. The county and city were named after him although he only visited the city twice. In February 1858, Brookings rode a horse from Sioux Falls to the Yankton area during a blizzard. His horse slipped and fell into Split Rock Creek in the freezing weather. Brookings made it safely to Yankton, but his wet legs had suffered such severe frostbite they both needed to be amputated. He spent the rest of his life using a pair of squeaky, wooden legs.

We want to thank our longtime baker Sam for partnering with us all these years and providing bread for our sandwiches, hoagies, and garlic cheesy bread!
Sadly Cottleston Bread has discontinued operations. Our sandwiches may look slightly different, but as we move forward to a new bread provider we aim to still serve the best sandwiches possible!

A new month means a new Pizza Showdown! The Jalapeño Popper Pizza came out on top once again and faces of new competitor!

Just in time for the Oktoberfest season, Stefan created the Octobercrust Pizza! This pie starts out with a woody cheese base, topped with cheese, bratwurst, onions, sauerkraut, and black pepper. It is finished with salted pretzel bites and a drizzle of sweet and spicy mustard.

Only one pizza will come out a champion!

Another Game Day, another Fancakes!
Come down to the pub tomorrow (09/26) morning from 9 to 11 am for free yellow and blue pancakes, Kool Beans coffee, and craft b**r to celebrate another Jacks home football game! We will be flipping pancakes with the SoDak Spurs and all freewill donations will support them!

We also want to thank the crowd that came down last week to support the Brookings Humane Society, they were able to raise $871 from your generosity!
