Today is a little bittersweet around the Halfway House.

One of our favorite team members, Hunter, is graduating from Quilcene High School! 🎓

Hunter has been with us almost as long as we've owned the restaurant, making him a true HWH OG. We've watched him grow from a high school kid into an incredible young man. We still remember the big day he turned 18 and earned the right to use the knives and meat slicer. It was basically his kitchen "coming of age" ceremony. 🔪😂

Over the years, he's become an absolute rock star in the kitchen, and next year he'll be heading to Washington State University to continue his education and play rugby. As a former college rugby captain myself, I'm already looking forward to cheering him on from the sidelines.

Hunter has a work ethic, attitude, and character that guarantee one thing: success. We couldn't be more proud of him, and while we'll miss having him around the restaurant, we're excited to see where life takes him next.

Please join us in congratulating Hunter on this huge accomplishment!

We're back open today—just in time for the rain! 🌧️

Thank you for your patience while we took a day to spruce things up around the Halfway House. The cleanup project was a big success, and we're happy to report that the remnants of the old kitchen are finally gone. A huge thank you to Jerry, Dave, and Andy Mac for lending their muscles and helping us tackle the job. We couldn't have done it without you!

The sunshine is sticking around for one more beautiful day, so get out there and enjoy it while you can! It looks like Mother Nature is planning to turn the sprinklers back on for a bit after today. ☀️➡️🌧️ BTW, the strawberries in the breakfast special are fresh from the Snowshoe Evergreen Farm in Orting.

A couple of important Halfway House updates:

🔨 We'll be CLOSED tomorrow (Wednesday 6/3) as we tackle an outside beautification project and get the place looking its best for Brinnon ShrimpFest on June 20th!

🦐 Also a heads up, we will also be CLOSED on ShrimpFest Day. For the first time, we're giving our amazing staff a chance to enjoy the festival with their families, and we're opening our kitchen to help support the food vendors serving the community throughout the day.

Don't worry—we'll still have our dining room open as a place to sit down, cool off, enjoy your shrimp, and escape the music for a few minutes if you need a break from the excitement!

Monday, June 1st Daily Specials

What a beautiful way to kick off June! The sun is shining, the coffee is hot, and today we're serving up a little Taste of Tuscany all day long, including our Italian Omelette and other Italian-inspired favorites.

We also wanted to share a little gratitude this morning with a photo dump.

Yesterday was our 23rd anniversary, and after we closed, our staff completely caught us off guard. While Michelle was still working away in the kitchen (because of course she was), they secretly put together an incredible anniversary dinner. They even brought her a dress so she wouldn't spend the whole evening spelling like bacon. But, everyone loves bacon.

The food was amazing, but what meant the most was the thought behind it. To our incredible chefs and sommeliers (Tonya, Emily, & Alyssa )and to our waiter Hunter, thank you. You turned an ordinary workday into a memory we'll never forget. There may have been a few tears, and for the record, it wasn't just because Justin was chopping onions. We say it all the time, but this restaurant is more than a business. It's family. And yesterday reminded us just how lucky we are to have the team and community that we do.

Now for today's dad joke, it's more of a grandpa joke.

💍 A special shout-out today to my wife, Michelle, and the fearless owner of the Halfway House. Today marks our 23rd wedding anniversary! I honestly can't believe she's put up with me for 23 years. Through all the adventures, businesses, campaigns, restaurants, fire calls, and crazy ideas, she's been my partner every step of the way. Happy Anniversary, Michelle. ❤️

Look who's finally making an appearance... the sun! 🌞 After a stretch of gray skies, it looks like we're headed into a beautiful weekend here in Brinnon.

And what better way to celebrate than Prime Rib Night tonight? Tender, slow-roasted prime rib, great company, and a perfect start to the weekend.

Missed the Quilcene Rangers Volleyball fundraiser dinner earlier this week? You still have a chance to support these hardworking young athletes! The team will be hosting a Car Wash Fundraiser today, so you can help send them to camp and leave with a sparkling clean ride. 🚗✨ Details attached.
