Breakfast! It's those voices in my head again. Walking thru the bakery at 6 am and these were literally calling my name! Awe...nothing like old fashion cut outs. Paper thin, crispy, and a rich buttery taste. Pure heaven! I love coming to work early!

Couldn't sleep so I came into work at 5:30am with a large cup of coffee and came up with our latest creation for the bakery. Great morning for taste testing! A Pumpkin Mousse Vanilla Torte Cake. Three layers of white vanilla cake separated by layers of a whipped pumpkin mousse, then topped off with a French butter cream icing. and festively decorated for Autumn.

"So where did the name "Premise Maid" come from?" A question we are asked a lot. My father was always in love with the Bavarian country side and the magical atmosphere that it created. That is why our buildings to this day take on an old world European charm. Back in 1978, when he started his company, he wanted a fictional character that would have the identity of a Bavarian maiden that made chocolates on the premises. Hence the name "Premise Maid"! Over the years, the Premise Maid has taken a personality all of her own. Her name is "Anna" and her fictional childhood story of how she came from Bavarian to the rolling hills of Pennsylania is the basis of the story entiled "The Legend of the Premise Maid". Anna as a grown up is seen on the logos for each of the three "Shoppes of the Premise Maid". So be sure to stop and and thank Anna for all her sweet confections!

TBT. The year 1984. An old set of farm buildings dating back to circa 1790, a dream and a large cup of coffee. I was a young man of 23. I took these pictures this morning 42 years later. It's Pretzel time at The Shoppes of Premise Maid! Did you know that for the next 10-12 week we chocolate cover approximately 1.2 million pretzels for our retail store and several other venues. Each pretzel is individually placed on our chocolate enrober one at a time and then taken off the enrober the same way. How much chocolate does it take to cover that many pretzels? About 10,000 pounds or 5 tons of luscious milk or dark chocolate!!!

With the feel of Autumn in the air, Pie and Dessert time is here!! We have taken three of our featured desserts in our bakery and turned them into new ice cream flavors. First, we have made a Boston Cream Pie ice cream, which is a Bavarian cream flavored ice cream with vanilla cake pieces and chocolate fudge. Second, we have our famous pumpkin pie ice cream. The name says it all!! And finally, we have our Cappuccino with diced Italian Cookies ice cream. This lightly coffee flavored ice cream is swirled with diced up italian cookies and a vanilla cream. Stop in and sample how scrumptions autumn can be! Look forward to seeing you!!!
