Quite Contrary evolved from a mission my two oldest daughters wanted to support. They had a brilliant idea to sell cupcakes to raise funds to donate to a Compassion International child, Faith Wambui, adopted by their Sunday School. Needless to say, their fundraiser was a success (they raised $531 the first year, $1200 the second!), and I realized I might have a knack for baking cupcakes! Tradition

al flavors are available, but the fun, unique flavors (like Ski, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Butterbeer, or Root Beer Float, to name a few) are what make Quite Contrary's cupcakes stand out. Each one is baked by me, decorated by me, and all with quality ingredients. And if your favorite flavor isn't listed on the menu, just ask! Custom flavor requests are encouraged! Gluten-free, dairy-free, and egg-free (or all three-free) options are also available. Quite Contrary is home to the Cupcake Club, a relatively new twist on monthly subscriptions. Who wouldn't love three new flavors of cupcakes delivered to their home or office each month?! Members receive monthly boxes with 3-4 cupcakes, PLUS they also receive additional discounts on other orders, free delivery, and referral bonuses! Membership is available year-round! Also, make sure you ask about gift certificates! They are always available for purchase in any dollar amount or for memberships. As always, delivery is available for FREE in Mascoutah, and is only $5 for any location up to a 25-mile radius. Cupcakes that come to your door??! Yep, that's the way it should be! Anyone who has been a member of the club knows I don't reschedule club boxes without months of notice. This time, however, I'm making an exception.

Today, the world lost an amazing man. My uncle, Kenny Jansen, spent his entire life changing minds and hearts on what "Down Syndrome" means. If you knew him, you knew it meant so many things.... Hope. Dreams. Perseverance. Joy. Laughter. Goodness. Love that has no limitations. Life that has no limitations.

Everyone who knew Kenny loved Kenny. And he loved you all in return. He loved root beer and Elvis and ice cream and pool and The Three Stooges and all things Mater Dei. Kenny worked for years at Community Link and looked forward each day to his job, his friends, and all of the employees who assisted him throughout the day. He was also a pretty fabulous dancer - no one popped their collar and pulled out the Elvis moves quite like Kenny.

For me personally, Kenny taught me to see through different lenses. I never saw disability. I saw the beautiful heart and soul that God created with a purpose. He helped me understand kindness and grace and patience. I am a better human because of Kenny.

Arrangements for his visitation and funeral are pending, but they will certainly impede my ability to prepare club boxes. Due to these circumstances, club boxes will go out on December 20, the following Thursday of regularly scheduled deliveries. Gift box deliveries on the 17th will be unaffected.

Please let me know if you need to make arrangements for another day. And thank you in advance for your understanding.

Thank you, Excel Bottling Company for bringing us Peppermint Snow... This adorable little cupcake is named after the soda that inspired (and was added to!) it's creation. A peppermint vanilla cake drizzled with white chocolate, topped with peppermint buttercream, and sprinkled with white chocolate "snow." It's smooth, creamy, and refreshing!

All the more reason to eat cake!!
