Supporting hyper-local and local farmers, food producers, and makers. Nonprofit programs of the Kearsarge Food Hub.

11 West Main St, Bradford NH In the spring of 2015, the Kearsarge Food Hub (KFH) launched a pilot project, Sweet Beet Farm and Farm Stand, as an opportunity to learn how to grow and sell vegetables, and establish relationships within the local food network. Through this project and

complimentary outreach efforts, founders and a growing group of folks committed to nurturing relationships with farmers, makers, food pantries, schools, thought leaders, food system partners, community organizations, and friends to build bridges between neighbors and their local food source. Since that spring and to this day, these bridges continue to be carefully crafted with a combination of multidimensional education, innovative solutions for widening food access and deepening connections, environmentally and socially conscientious practices, and a shared love of the New Hampshire seasons and the community that grows from this place. With tremendous collaborative effort, KFH has blossomed into a full blown 501c3 nonprofit organization on a mission to reinvigorate the community within a restorative local food system through cultivating food sovereignty, growing engaged learners, and nurturing community. Sweet Beet graduated from a seasonal roadside farm stand to a triad of engines, the farm + market + café, that each feed the food hub ecosystem in their own way. Alongside Unless LLC, owners of the old Bradford Inn at 11 West Main Street and dedicated food hub supporters, the KFH crew has been helping to revive this previously abandoned building and co-creating a shared sense of place in the Kearsarge and surrounding area that is inviting to all neighbors. Sweet Beet Market lives here at 11 West Main and is open year-round, alongside a community-supported commercial kitchen and the soon to be Sweet Beet Café. The market and café gratefully share space with Evergreen Healing Arts with yoga and massage, Circular Blu with sustainable health care consulting and recycling programs, Entroprise with software building, and a community room with events and music soon to return. Sweet Beet Farm now lives at 48 West Road, nestled in the backwoods of Bradford, and the fields at the old farm stand downtown now host a newly formed Farmer Apprenticeship Program. Thanks for being a part of it!

Nobody is more excited about fresh sugar snap peas than Joanne! Just look at that smile.

These sweet, crunchy beauties come from Kearsarge Gore Farm in Warner, NH. They a multi-generational family farm growing organic vegetables for more than 25 years on 500 acres in the foothills of Mt. Kearsarge, all off-grid... powered by solar energy and gravity-fed water.

Father's Day is this Sunday, and we can't think of a much better way to celebrate than gathering around the grill with good food and good company.

We've got local steaks, burgers, uncured hot dogs, beer brats, hot sauce, spice rubs, local beer, cider, and wine to help make the meal memorable.

If you're putting together a gift, consider pairing a few artisan hot sauces and spice rubs in a basket. For the beer-loving dads, we have a great selection of craft and artisan beers to choose from.

We hope you'll stop by this week as you get ready for the weekend. Bring Dad in for breakfast or lunch as a treat this weekend at the cafe!

You had us at house-made focaccia pizza.

This weekend's special is a crispy, cheesy Focaccia 'Za + Salad built on a true labor of love from our very own Johanna. After countless batches, tweaks, taste tests, and plenty of dedication, she perfected the focaccia recipe that serves as the foundation for this special. Topped with roasted garlic, mushrooms, a melty cheese blend, and fresh arugula from our own Cassie's Blaisdell Hill Farm, it's a celebration of the people behind the food as much as the ingredients themselves.

Served with a colorful side salad featuring local greens, pickled onions, and beets, this plate is packed with fresh flavors and local goodness.

Want a little extra? Add sausage, bacon or brisket. You can see the crispy bacon on this piece pictured here.

And because so many of you asked...

The BBQ Breakfast Sandwich is back as a special.

Last week's favorite flew out the door, so we're bringing it back for another round. If you've been craving one all week, don't wait too long... we have a feeling it'll be just as popular this time around.

Join us at the café today from 9 AM–2 PM and enjoy food that's thoughtfully crafted, locally sourced, and made by folks who care deeply about feeding this community.

See you soon!

Beat the heat with a new freezer favorite.

Three Geeks & a Redhead might have the best name in our freezer right now. Fortunately, it also happens to be delicious.

Made by Bart's Ice Cream in Greenfield, MA, this super-premium flavor combines creamy coconut ice cream, dark chocolate chunks, fudgy brownie pieces, and a bright raspberry swirl that keeps everything balanced. Rich? Absolutely. And the raspberry brings just enough brightness to keep you coming back for another bite.

Bart's is made with 16% butterfat and high-quality ingredients sourced as locally as possible, and we're starting to understand why the brand has such a loyal following.

While Three Geeks & a Redhead may be stealing the spotlight, it arrived alongside a few other tempting flavors:

🥜 Peanut Butter Paradise
☕ Coffee Heath Crunch
🫎 Moose Trails

Whether you're heading home from the lake, taking a break from the garden, or just looking for a delicious way to survive the summer heat, we've got your ice cream needs covered. Stop in this weekend and grab some!

It's another Friday, and that means it's time for some Good Food News!

This week's edition includes:

A HUGE thank you! (Seriously, we're feeling the love.)

Tell me summer is starting without telling me summer is starting. Spoiler: the signs are everywhere.

And perhaps the most important question of all: What the heck is a bad mama-jama anyway?

Grab your favorite local snack, settle in, and catch up on all the good things happening in our little corner of the food system.

Watch this week's Good Food News and head into the weekend with something to smile about.

Okay, we might be a little obsessed with rhubarb right now.

The first rhubarb of the season has arrived from our very own Market Co-Manager Carolyn's garden, and we've been finding every excuse to put it to good use.

We were lucky enough to get our hands on some early strawberries, too, which means it's prime time for homemade strawberry-rhubarb jam. Grab some of each and make a batch at home while the season is here.

Meanwhile, Sage has been busy baking up these irresistible Rhubarb Swirl Bars.. sweet, tangy, buttery, and exactly what you want with an afternoon cup of coffee or tea.

And because she can't help herself, Lauren has been experimenting in the kitchen with a beet, rhubarb, and ginger soup inspired by borscht. It's bright, earthy, a little tart, and delicious served either hot or cold.

A few fun rhubarb facts:
- It's a good source of antioxidants, vitamin K, and fiber.
- The leaves are toxic and should never be eaten.
- If you're prone to kidney stones, you may want to limit rhubarb because it's high in calcium oxalate.

For the rest of us? It's one of the best signs that spring is finally giving way to summer.

Come grab some rhubarb while it's here, and let us know your favorite way to use it in the comments!

Your donation is DOUBLED right now through NH Gives!

Donate today before 5 pm: www.bit.ly/KFH_nhgives

If you've ever shopped at Sweet Beet Market & Café but haven't yet made a gift to our nonprofit, Kearsarge Food Hub, there's never been a better time to step deeper into the impact you're already helping create.

Right here in the Kearsarge region, food insecurity is a daily reality for far too many of our neighbors. Between 1,500 and 1,800 community members struggle to put food on the table, and more than 250 local students rely on free or reduced-price school meals. At the same time, food assistance programs are facing major cuts, while climate change and global instability continue to strain our food systems.

At Kearsarge Food Hub, we believe fresh, local food should be accessible to everyone... not just those who can afford it. Through our food security programs, food pantry partnerships, Community FREEdge, SNAP incentives, and investments in local farmers, we're building a stronger, more resilient local food system that works for all of us.

When you donate, you're doing more than helping provide food today. You're investing in long-term food sovereignty, supporting local farmers, strengthening our local economy, and helping create a community where everyone has access to healthy, nourishing food. That's the future Kearsarge Food Hub is working toward every day.

Every dollar donated through NH Gives will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000 thanks to the generous support of the Matthew 25:34-40 Foundation.

Join us in building a resilient local food system that nourishes our neighbors, supports our farmers, and keeps local food thriving for generations to come.

And right now, one donation. Yours!

For 24 hours only, your donation is DOUBLED thanks to a $10K matching challenge from the Matthew 25: 34-40 Foundation!
