Some players wear the uniform. Some players become part of what the uniform means.

For 14 seasons, from 2013 to 2026, Lane Johnson was Philadelphia. Tough. Relentless. Loyal. Never looking for the spotlight, just lining up every Sunday and doing the dirty work that allowed everyone else to shine. Through different coaches, quarterbacks, teammates, heartbreaks and celebrations, No. 65 remained one of the constants.

There will be plenty of time to talk about the résumé, two Super Bowl championships, three NFC titles, six Pro Bowls and five AP All-Pro selections. One of the greatest right tackles this game has ever seen.

But Philly will remember more than that.
We'll remember him playing through pain. Protecting his teammates. Being open about battles that had nothing to do with football. Getting knocked down in life and coming back. And we'll remember that when this city finally reached the top, not once, but twice. Lane Johnson was there in the trenches helping make it possible.

For more than a decade, we never really had to wonder who was lining up on the right side. 65 was there. You don't realize how comforting something like that is until the day comes when it isn't anymore. Someday we'll see that number and immediately be taken back to those teams, those playoff runs, those cold nights at the Linc and two parades this city will never forget.

You gave Philadelphia everything you had.
Philadelphia won't forget it.
Thank you, Lane.
