What is Chatsubu?

Yakisugi or Shou Sugi Ban is a traditional Japanese method of preserving wood. It is done by charring the surface of the wood without combusting the entire piece. The wood then becomes more water-proof, durable, fire retardant and protects against insects. Chatsubu is an inhouse trademarked product we offer using this preservation and finishing techniqu
