A neighborhood eatery focusing on heirloom grains, stone-milled in house, combined with seasonal produce from local purveyors. We opened in 2010 in Boulder to share our love for wood-fired cooking, inspired dishes and pizzas, and creating an inviting and intentional experience. By raising awareness about heritage grains and seasonal ingredients, we have remained an ever-evolving eatery dedicated to our neighborhood and to sharing something different with our community.

“What makes our winemaker takeovers so special is the casual, neighborly nature of the experience. We welcome winemakers from around the US and beyond whose ethos matches ours when it comes to stewardship of land and craft. We integrate their wines into the warmth and deliciousness of everyday BASTA. It becomes sheer conviviality because we promote a make-it-your-own approach. If you’re looking to take a deep dive into the offerings, the evenings often feature food specials and pairing experiences. Or you can have a low-key by-the-glass experience with a couple snacks, or commit to your favorite bottle in the line up with a group of friends. Winemakers hang out with us all evening so you can connect one-on-one and hear their story in a natural, organic way. Most winemakers will enjoy one of Robert’s cocktails and something tasty from the wood-fire oven alongside our guests as well. Late summer is the perfect time to enjoy a meal on our patio. Our gardens and pots are in full swing, surrounding you with the very herbs and plants that we employ throughout our menu. Join us in the next couple of weeks to appreciate the first round of tomatoes and many more locally sourced vegetables. We’ll see you at Basta.

Coming from the Ibarra-Young Vineyard, one of the oldest in the Santa Ynez Valley, this Syrah will be shared as part of a flight of Amevive’s outstanding lineup of wines. Hosting winemakers gives us the unique opportunity to speak directly to the talented creators who are enriching the industry one bottle at a time. Alice and her team at Amevive are a part of a wave of young vintners who are changing the way wine is created. With a collection of organic and ecosystem friendly farming techniques, viticulture, and the wine produced, becomes more complex and sustainable than ever before.

We are so excited to welcome a new restaurant to Boulder, Cozobi Fonda Fina! This one is special to us because of the people behind the project, Johnny and Kasie Curiel who also own Alma Fonda Fina in Denver are making their Boulder debut. We want to celebrate them as they are chef owned and operated, like us, which these days is harder to find in Boulder. Their story will take you on a delicious adventure of corn in Mexico. 10 corn varieties in fact are imported to Colorado at which point are nixtamalized and ground on site. Chef incorporates woodfire cooking (our favorite) in his menu with mouth watering combinations of proteins, vegetables, and sauces, including an amazing crudo section! Their cocktails and extensive spirits list will keep you coming back to try new things. Look out for Chef Counter experiences and Happy Hour too!
