Recently, one of our customers was gracious enough to donate the original Ice Shanty billboard that sat on the edge of town and greeted visitors to Boulder Junction nearly a half a century ago. Seeing daylight for the first time in decades, it is now on permanent display on our mini-golf course, greeting players of all ages, and will do so for years to come.
While installing the sign, it made us reflect on what the Ice Shanty has come to mean to the community. Beyond great food and ice cream treats, we are powered by the community’s youth, often times giving them their first chance of employment and the opportunity to learn that hard work does pay off. Each year, we donate thousands of dollars to help sponsor countless community events and fundraisers that keep Boulder Junction visitors coming back for more. We are open daily throughout the summer and promise to work our tails off to make sure your visit to the area is a memorable one.
Around for over a half a century, when you count our previous names, we are setting our sights on the next fifty years and beyond. Our roots are firmly planted in Boulder Junction, and we’re proud to say that while some ice shanties are portable, this one is permanent!
