*ANNOUNCEMENT* After more than a decade, I have decided to close Alex's Ugly Sauce. While there is much I will miss (especially our customers!), it is time for me to end this chapter. Eleven years ago, I quit my job writing software with the dream of turning my hot sauce making hobby into a business. I knew there were others out there like me who wanted that combination of heat and flavor, who appreciated the freshness of real food grown locally, and who would get a kick out of trying new things. We brought our first product, Alex's Ugly Sauce Original, to market in the summer of 2011. In the ten years since, we have released 200 sauces!
I am so proud of the quality of our products and our partnerships with small farms across Massachusetts. It has been a blast sharing Alex's Ugly Sauce with you at farmers markets, holiday fairs, pop up events, independent stores, restaurants, grocery store tastings, and on the interwebs. I love watching a customer savor a new sauce and helping someone choose a gift for a hot sauce fan in the family. I have had so many adventures and made so many friends through the ups and downs of starting and maintaining a small food business in Boston. This journey has been incredibly fulfilling.
We are not done yet! We will keep selling hot sauce online until the stock runs out. All of our available sauces -- including a few new ones -- are online, so if you don't see it there, it's gone.

These two sibling varieties of Scorpion peppers pack a 1-2 punch that will leave you reeling! Don’t worry, you’ll regain feeling in your face at some point soon, but we won’t promise exactly when!

Our Dragon sauce has always been one of our most popular and unique sauces. This year we put together a special Limited Edition Box with our classic Dragon sauce, our experimental Red Dragon sauce, and the all new Green Dragon sauce!
Dragon - Heat Level: 7/10. A bright, fresh heat that shows up fast and goes away quickly, departing with a slightly sweet finish. The tip of your tongue will tingle and your taste buds will sing as you savor this truly unique sauce.
Red Dragon - Heat Level: 7.5/10. Our Dragon sauce has been a fan favorite for years, and our new Red Dragon is sure to be as well! Chocolate Scorpion - We all know that the Scorpion pepper is crazy hot, but somehow the chocolate varietal is even hotter! *contains no chocolate - that is just the name of the pepper!
Brain Strain - To be honest, all of our major organs were under stress while dealing with the very tasty madness of this sauce. Made with Brain Strain peppers.
Screaper - a longtime best seller, starts out very hot and very tasty, and then gets even hotter about 30 seconds later - good luck! Made with locally-grown Ghost, Scorpion, and Reaper peppers.

What a nice way to ring in the holidays! We are looking forward to sharing our remaining microbatches and special edition sauces with everyone before we take a much-needed rest in January.
