Happy 4th of July🇺🇸
God Bless the USA, Lee Greenwood,
“If tomorrow all the things were gone
I worked for all my life
And I had to start again
With just my children and my wife
I thank my lucky stars
To be living here today
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can't take that away
And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota
To the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas
From sea to shining sea
From Detroit down to Houston
And New York to L.A.
Where's pride in every American heart
And it's time we stand and say
That I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.
And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.”

PLEASE READ:

To all our loyal customers and friends:

We want to thank you for your ongoing support of Capitol Cellars the last 8 plus years.

Capitol Cellars has been a joy to own and operate. As many of you know, the Smyser family has experienced a good deal of trauma and loss recently and frankly, we have lost the will to continue in the fine dining business. We have made the difficult decision to sell our restaurant. But we hope to find new owners to keep this downtown treasure thriving for many years to come.

We can never thank you enough for dining with us. Whether celebrating birthdays, engagements, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, campaign events, wedding dinners, or just special dinners, we have loved being part of your lives.

Our Chef and Staff have proudly served Capitol Cellars patrons for many years, and we are grateful for each employee who has worked for us the last 8 years. To give our current employees the time to find new employment, we will stay open until the end of July. It will also give you the opportunity to use any outstanding gift cards by July 29, 2023.

As a thank you to our loyal diners, we ask you to come in and take advantage of 50% off all wines on our extensive wine list. That includes Araujo, Insignia, Bond, Continuum, Chateau Montelena Estate, and all your other favorites. Plus, watch for additional specials that will be forthcoming.

Once again, thank you from the Smyser family and especially from our daughter, Logan, who has been a rock throughout all.

Logan, Melinda & Skip Smyser

Morel mushrooms are at Capitol Cellars! Do you know the health benefits of morels? Morel mushrooms contain a lot of vitamin D. They are a low-fat, plant-based food that makes a great addition to a heart-healthy diet as an ingredient or as a meat substitute. Adding more plant foods to your diet can lower your cholesterol, give you more energy, and supplement your diet with a wealth of nutrients!

Happy Flag Day🇺🇸 “Flag Day commemorates the origins of the United States' flag in 1777 —

Nearly 250 years ago, on June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress approved the design of a national flag.

Here's a quick look at the history of Flag Day, which celebrates the history and symbolism of the American flag. "Resolved, that the Flag of the thirteen United States shall be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the Union be thirteen stars, white on a blue field, representing a new constellation."
That's the resolution adopted by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777, in the midst of the Revolutionary War. We don't know for sure who designed this first official flag, but the Library of Congress says most historians believe it was designed by congressman Francis Hopkinson and sewn early on by Philadelphia seamstress Betsy Ross. The new flag first saw battle three months later — according to the Department of Veteran Affairs, the flag was carried in the Battle of Brandywine.

There have now been more than two dozen official versions of the flag, with the current 50-star flag dating back to 1960 after Hawaii became a state.

The VA says sources vary on the first Flag Day observances, with Hartford, Connecticut, claiming the earliest in 1861. School programs on the holiday became widespread in the late 1800s after a New York City school's patriotic ceremony caught education officials' attention.

National recognition of Flag Day came even later, with President Woodrow Wilson issuing the first presidential proclamation establishing a national Flag Day in 1916. The holiday wasn't signed into law until 1949, when Congress approved legislation designating June 14 of each year as Flag Day. “ KTVB
