Italian heritage is made up of so many families, places, traditions, and memories—and we’d love to celebrate some of yours.

To kick things off, we’re sharing a photo from our own family archives. This is Tony’s mom, photographed years ago in Italy amongst a group of Italian men in the Sicilian lemon groves. 🍋

October is Italian Heritage Month! 🇮🇹❤️

All month long, we’ll be celebrating the culture, traditions, recipes, and — most importantly — the people that make Italian heritage so special.

We’ll be sharing more of our own Italian heritage and family story, and how those traditions have shaped Caffè Sorrento into what it is today. We’ll also be highlighting the Italian heritage of families right here in the Treasure Valley, because we know our community is full of stories, traditions, and connections to Italy. 🇮🇹

And, of course, we have some fun promotions, special treats, and ways for you to join us in celebrating throughout the month!

Whether your roots lead back to Italy or you simply love the food, culture, and traditions — we’re so excited to celebrate with you. 🤍💚❤️

October 1st is here, and so are MORE fall specials at Caffè Sorrento! 🇮🇹🍂

🍎 Torta di Mele — “Apple Cake”
A moist, yogurt-enriched crumb with four local apples woven into every cake, finished with a caramelized crust and a dusting of powdered sugar.

🍐 Brown Butter Pear Maritozzo
A classic Roman pastry made with a pillowy brioche roll, split and filled with housemade local pear compote & brown butter panna. Finished with clove & powdered sugar.

🍏 Apple Butter Bombolone
Our pillowy brioche doughnut tossed in cinnamon sugar, then piped full of housemade, slow-simmered local apple butter & vanilla bean pastry cream.

And alongside them, our Honey Orange Cardamom Olive Oil Cake 🍊🍯 and Cassata al Forno (“Cannoli Cake”) 🍫

Sfincione. One of Palermo, Sicily’s most beloved street foods. 🇮🇹

Available at Pizza & Gelato Night caffesorrentoboise this Friday evening from 6–9pm (or until sold out!)

Sfincione is a Sicilian-style topped focaccia — NOT pizza, according to the locals 😉 — made with a wonderfully spongy crust, slowly cooked tomato & onion sauce, chunks of sharp cheese pierced into the dough, toasted breadcrumbs, pecorino, oregano, and a generous drizzle of olive oil. 🍅🫒

The ingredients are simple and rooted in the land — humble, bold, and full of flavor, capturing the essence of Sicilian food culture in every bite.

Owner Tony enjoyed Sfincione numerous times during visits to Sicily throughout his childhood, and we believe what we’ve recreated here is truly the real deal. ❤️

We’ll be serving Sfincione alongside our classics — Hot Pepperoni, Sweet Italian & Margherita — as well as our house-made gelato.

This morning’s bake-off looked a little different thanks to Mosh*t & Chuck, the incredible humans behind Janjoupatisserie 🤍 Because of them, we were able to remain open and continue serving everyone who came in today.

When our ovens went out yesterday and we found out it would be days before we could get a new part, not just one, but multiple bakeries within a few miles of our shop reached out so generously offering us the use of their ovens. We instantly went from feeling frustrated to overwhelmingly grateful. 🙏

This is a testament to just how beautiful the Boise business community is. The people behind these businesses choose to build one another up, rather than so easily seeing others in their industry as competition.

Mosh*t & Chuck are such an admirable example of this kind of love and support. We, and the entire Treasure Valley community, are so blessed to have them as friends and neighbors.

Carmela even got her daily morning brioche — just French-style instead of Italian this time. 🇫🇷 She approved!

We love living in and serving the Boise community. Thank you for being here, for supporting us, and for reminding us what a special place this is.
