Back on September 10th I shared an opportunity to assist BHSN teachers and/or students through Cougars For Better Education.
Heather Miller McKinney accepted my challenge. She contacted Laura Hanna the president of Cougars for Better Education and then me with our donation day — October 14th.
So this morning we met in the the teacher/visitors parking lot at 6:55 a.m. to load up and deliver the 160 caramel apples (half with nuts) that she had ordered and picked up from Morgan County’s Anderson Orchard— we split the cost. We wanted to bless the “Apple-so-lutely amazing” teachers and staff with a sweet treat on the last day before fall break. Heather had created cute little cards to attach to the apple packaging and also had information about her new adventure as a real estate agent. I brought a few Apple Ag Mags that I use in presentations with students about Apples through my volunteer role as Education and Outreach Coordinator of Monroe County Farm Bureau.
It was so fun doing this with Heather, seeing our old school, visiting with staff and even a few students I recognized in the hallways. A major highlight for both Heather and me was seeing Fellow BHSN Class of 1991 member Josh Easter who teaches at North.
Cougars for Better Ed is still looking for a few sponsors to support specific events/initiatives within the North community!! You don’t have to do it alone I would partner with you and/or find others wanting to assist
Requests:
Sponsor a monthly teacher/staff appreciation event -
- donuts & muffins/warm drinks morning in October
- coffee truck during the inservice day in November
- soup luncheon in December
- trail mix bar in February
Sponsor 5 All Season Sports Passes as rewards for students in good standing
Other ideas welcome!!!
Please contact Laura Hanna at [email protected] or 812-606-2265 if you would like to discuss a potential sponsorship!!
