A very special birthday shout to the living legend that is our guy Karthik!

The man has simply become a damn institution within these four walls at Dunnkirk Square - he's often been referred to as the GOAT 🐐 and just oozes lovable sidekick vibes. We've been fortunate he's been blessing our bar for a decade + now.

When he gets back into town (he's taking a brief sabbatical to the majestic shores of Lake Havasu before the school year begins) please give him your attention and adoration as he prefers that instead of monetary tips :)

🚨ANNOUNCEMENT🚨

In an agreement finalized earlier this week, a longtime Bloomington staple and fan favorite of Alumni both new & old will officially become the latest addition to 'The Back Home Network'.

The Upstairs Pub has officially become a corporate sponsor of BHN and all of its podcasts & long-form content across all platforms.

The Indiana University themed network focuses primarily on IU sports and the fans that follow the Cream & Crimson. It provides them an outlet to connect to their beloved school, team and the smalltown that calls Indiana University home.

The Back Home Network includes such IU-centric shows as the long running pods CrimsonCast and The Assembly Call, as well as the Rhett Lewis vehicle 'Big Red Carpet'. It also boasts the The Tricia & Sydney Show - hosted by former IUWBB standout and Big Ten Network host Sydney Parrish and Apple TV MLB ⚾ correspondent Tricia Whitaker.

BHN network also plays host to several other IU sports related programs, ranging from 'Xs & Joe's', 'Doing The Work' and 'Football Weather' among others.

The newly formed partnership will also introduce a new podcast to the BHN family of shows, as Beyond BTown will be reborn and absorbed into the IU pod orbit once again.

Beyond BTown will be a short pod focusing on former Hoosier Coaches, Athletes and Students who've moved on from Bloomington and Monroe County and gone onto some truly incredible adventures and lives - while also looking back at the people, places and stories that make the 812 so magical.

It will once again be hosted by former IUBB & IUFB Gameday DJ BTown's DJ Unique thatdudeunique.

Look for The Upstairs Pub content and announcements during the shows across BHN beginning this weekend !!

All that scoreboard talk over the weekend ... a shout to .ringler with the look back at the board in its working capacity inside Assembly Hall for Indiana University Athletics - then move in day here at The Pub (Summer of '24) ... and how she's doing up on our wall in her permanent home.

With the Taste of Bloomington happening below on Kirkwood Avenue, we've had quite a few folks stopping by who (according to them) haven't been in to see us since our expansion and subsequent renovations.

It's always fun to show off the new digs for guests and answer questions about the centerpiece of the room : The giant IUBB Scoreboard from Assembly Hall.

In fact, just a few weeks ago, we celebrated (2) years of having this 800lb, 7' x 18' icon hung on our wall ...

Ironically enough, earlier this week - both in person and online - we had ppl question the authenticity of the scoreboard; going as far as to claim it was a 'replica' and 'definitely not from IU or Assembly Hall'.

So let's just go ahead and end any/all debate about that - we can 1000% assure Hoosier fans this is one of the two hanging scoreboards from inside IU's Assembly Hall during the Coach Knight era.

We are so very proud and grateful to have this beautiful relic with us here at The Pub. Knowing that it once called the 'Carnegie Hall of College Basketball' its home and to have it here with us now is so incredibly special and not lost on us whatsoever! ❤️ that the horn still works too (check last slide)

Here's hoping the Hoosiers keep lighting up this 'ol thing for years to come !!

We do love us some summertime in Bloomington; very much so in fact... BUT, even we're starting to look ahead a lil bit.

(Side note : if you haven't done summer in Bloom - you owe it to yourself... it's a solid 12/10 would highly recommend)
