Gloucester Township Police Media Release- National Night Out 2026!
On Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, neighborhoods throughout Gloucester Township, New Jersey are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 43rd Annual Night Out (NNO) crime/drug prevention event. National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Gloucester Township Police Department and will involve communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases around the world.
In all, over 38 million people, from over 17 thousand communities, are expected to participate in America's Night Out Against Crime on August 4th, 2026. National Night Out is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. NNO is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
From 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on August 4th, 2026, residents throughout Gloucester Township, New Jersey are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights, and spend the evening outside with their neighbors and police. Also, several Neighborhood Watch groups will be hosting a variety of special events, such as block parties, cookouts, carnivals, dessert tasting parties, and pool parties. Visiting these many special events will be: McGruff the Crime Dog along with his nephew Scruff, Police, Mayor and Council, and Inspira EMS. Public locations in Gloucester Township are Blackwood Fire Company, Erial Fire Company/ Gloucester Township Fire District 6, and the Gloucester Premium Outlets.
Police Chief Anthony Minosse stated: “National Night Out is one of the highlights of our year as it gives our Police Officers the chance to spend time getting to know the people we serve. Building relationships with our residents in a fun and relaxed setting not only strengthens trust, but creates lasting connections, while reminding us all that we are part of the Gloucester Township, New Jersey community.”
