It’s a beautiful Sunday here! We’re open until 4pm today. Come see us and all of the shops here stocked and ready for you! The pumpkin/gourd thing-y is from Farmgate just outside of nearby Galva…even in the rain a few weeks ago, we had a ball 🎃😊

Well this got progressively, luxuriously (and unapologetically! 🐾💗) more ridiculous. This is Ellie. She’s our smart, delightful mess 🤗 Apparently this beautiful day exhausted her 😂 See you tomorrow…we’re open 10am-4pm with salted caramel apple crookies, apple pies, and apple c***r doughnuts….as well as all the favorites. In the meantime, I’m going to be sure Ellie has her paws up, poor thing🐾☺️

MIDWEEK MYS | THE WHOLE PICTURE

Somehow, it’s already the last day of September.

There’s something about this turn of the season that makes me want to do two completely opposite things:

Settle in. And shake things up.

Maybe that’s why I’ve been thinking about puzzles lately. The longer I do this, the more I realize that making progress isn’t about forcing pieces to fit…and that progress isn’t even always about movement.

It’s about stepping back and looking at the whole picture.

What are the numbers telling us? What can we actually control and meaningfully impact? What pieces are already working? Is another section a better use of time and energy right now?

And maybe most importantly:

What do we WANT the whole picture to look like?

Not just the business.

The life the business sits inside.

Sometimes you push. Sometimes you change the strategy. Sometimes you give an idea enough room for the answer to show itself.

And then you get to work.

So on this rainy last day of September, I’m doing a little of both.

Settling in.

And getting ready.

October, we’re ready for you. 💙💛

55 degrees. Our new denim triangle scarf - perfect pairing instead of a sweater on brisk mornings! Available this weekend. In the meantime, plenty of Swedish Rye, Croissant Bread, praline pecans and peanut brittle in the porch pantry. Hope it’s a good week so far~ **The closed-top tea latte is for my sister…my wild open mug shenanigans gave her palpitations 😂 I’ve been training for this for decades (dance floor days anyone?) This is what I mean, nothing in our lives is ever wasted…we bring so many skillsets to every chapter 💛💙🤗

Happy Friday! We made it 🎉In case no one has told you today: You’re Doing Great 💙💛 F-A-L-L is here…and our shop is C-O-Z-Y. This striped sweater with subtle ruffles is one of my favorites…(flipped overall pocket not included 😂🤷🏼‍♀️). A sweater and a mug. Not a particularly complicated formula for a good fall day.

We have some lovely new versions of both in the shop…First pairing. More to come. We’re open from 11am-4pm today. *special hours* SAT/SUN: 9am until town clears.

MIDWEEK MYS | MARGIN

I’ve been thinking about optimization lately.

Our sleep. Our skincare. Our diets. Our homes. Our parenting. Our travel. Protein as a sport.

Habit stacking. Maximizing. Efficiency.

I love a good system….but I wonder what happens when we optimize all the margin out of our lives.

Where’s the room to wander? To make a happy mistake? To follow an idea that doesn’t have a purpose yet?

A walk without steps to count (or a weighted vest!I know, I tried it…but c’mon, remember fresh air? Or just clearing your head?) A hobby we’re not trying to monetize. A conversation that isn’t somehow timed. Looking out the window.

Wonder. Serendipity. Simply enjoying the life we’re living.

Maybe we don’t need to make the most of every moment. Maybe some moments are better when we just get to be in them. 💙💛 More on substack~
