SPRING FLOWERS have popped up everywhere around here!!

Oh what a joy it is to create & decorate cakes for those who God’s placed in your life when you needed a friend most. This special Mama has been one I knew the day we met we’d be friends for life.

Happy Birthday to your beautiful girl! And thank you for including us in your special day!

There are some cakes you never forget creating. This has always been one of my most favorites. Simple, yet elegant. And for a very special lady who was - as one of President Obama’s right hand ladies - having an intimate wedding of close family and friends at a local DC Chef’s restaurant. Duty called, and waiting “4 more years” to get hitched was not happening, so we made it happen! And yes, if I recall, the President & First Lady were special guests. Naturally!

Stars & Stripes!

The 4th of July the year I did this cake while living in Washington DC was such a fun day! This cake was extra special cause it was for family, and for cake & cookie lovers, many of which had only heard how delicious our bakery was. So naturally, it was only fitting to surprise everyone with a cake made by scratch and decorated with homemade iced butter cookies to make it a for-REAL CAKE-POP!

Every once in a while I get the utmost honor of taking my love and passion for drawing into the decorating room. Much of my work is seen at the bakery on paper, canvas, or other mediums. But when it takes shape using buttercream icing - rather than watercolors and acrylics - well then it is really a "from the heart" decorated cake.

This beauty is loved and adored by a beautiful girl who celebrated her birthday last week. Her amazing Mama sent over his pictures . . . and he made the cake even more beautiful than we could have ever imagined!

Flowers speak more than words, and are beautiful in many colors.

Just a few of our flower cakes in different colors from this weekend. Though blue is my favorite color, I love these cake creations in all the colors of the rainbow!

My love of flowers is thanks to my grandmother B. And so. . . in her honor, out of nowhere today, this cake came to life.

Meet . . . BLOOM.

Why? Because 'Flowers are Happiness' . . . housed in a seed that grows from love, attention, kindness, sunshine, hope, faith, care, patience, grace, and the beauty within.

So BLOOM. Beautifully, courageously, delicately, lovingly, selflessly, graciously, wildly, passionately, crazily, all while believing . . . knowing . . . that the most stunning, breathtaking, and elegant "wildflowers - don't care where they grow." (Dolly's quote not mine).

They just BLOOM.
