In today’s post of.. Don’t Kill Your Barista!… the Americano.
This drink in actually espresso and water. It makes you think coffee but actually it’s only 2-4 oz of water (personal preference on amount).
It creates a smoother, more robust flavor with a lighter body. Typically no milk (no foam either)or flavor added. This is for the espresso flavor lovers and makes a great gateway to change for drip coffee drinkers.

This drink can be confusing because of ratios. Americans tend to add more milk then called for making it closer to a latte. In actuality it’s equal espresso, milk and foam. So you’re getting a 6 oz versus a 12 oz drink when you order a cappuccino. Some people add flavor but typically it’s no flavor. So…. When you order a cappuccino and think it’s smaller than usual, remember…. Don’t Kill Your Barista, we gave you what you order. ❤️ ☕

An Affogato (or affogato al caffè) is a classic Italian dessert that translates to "drowned". It consists of a vanilla I ce cream that is "drowned" in a shot of hot, freshly brewed espresso. It beautifully contrasts hot, bitter coffee with cold, sweet, creamy ice cream.
